Introducing our new review system

You asked - we delivered! After much anticipation, we’re delighted to share that we’ve made some improvements to the way reviews are left on our platform.

Our new review system has been carefully created using lots of feedback and insights from our lovely members, and designed to help create a fairer, more trusted review system. Here’s everything you need to know…

So, what’s new?

Under the new system, reviews will be kept temporarily ‘hidden’ from the other member until both parties have had a chance to leave their review (or until 14 days have passed) - giving members the space and time they need to leave their open, honest, and impartial feedback.

Additionally, we’ll be introducing a new 14-day window for members to leave their reviews. After 14 days have passed, the opportunity to leave a review will close, and reviews will be visible for all members to see (if one has been left).

This latest update to our reviews system follows a string of great improvements already made this year, including our new past sits and past sitter pages, and adding new helpful prompts to leave a review following a house sit.

Trusted tip: to help keep things simple, we’ll also be making a small terminology change from ‘feedback’ for owners to ‘reviews’. This will mean that both owners and sitters will be prompted to leave a ‘review’ for one another.

When will the new review system start?

Our new review system is now live, in place and ready for your next sit!

How it works: a step-by-step

1. Following a house sit, you’ll receive email reminders from yours truly reminding you to leave a review. Remember, you’ll have 14 days to do so, so don’t hang around!

Trusted tip: we’ve also increased the frequency of our review reminder emails, so you won’t miss out on your chance to share your feedback.

2. It’s time to leave your review! Remember, it’ll be kept temporarily ‘hidden’ from the other member until they leave a review for you (or until 14 days have passed).

Likewise, if your pet parent/sitter leaves a review for you first, you’ll need to leave them one in return or wait 14 days to see what they’ve said.

3. Once both parties have left their review (or once 14 days have passed), the review(s) will be published. You’ll then be free to leave a reply to your review if you wish to. Otherwise, be on your merry way!

FAQs

Once the 14-day review period has passed, you’ll no longer be able to leave your review, but you will be able to see the one left for you (if the other member has left one). Don’t worry, we’ll be sure to email you a couple of times during this 14-day period to remind you to leave your review.

Correct - reviews will be kept hidden and will not be posted until both members have left their review (or until 14 days have passed).

Yes - members will need to leave their review within 14 days, otherwise, the review window will close and members will no longer be able to leave a review.

We’ll be sure to email members a few times during this 14-day window to remind them to leave their review. While members will no longer be able to leave a review after this 14-day window, they will still have the opportunity to leave a reply to their review.

Yes - you’ll still be able to leave a reply to your review (even after the 14-day window has passed).

The 14-day period will start the day after the sit finishes.

For any reviews where neither side has left a review, this will switch to the new system. For sits where one side has already left a review but the other has not, this will follow the old review system (i.e. reviews will not be hidden). This should only affect a small number of sits during the changeover, and eventually, the new review system will apply to all sits.

Yes, we’ve also increased the frequency of our review reminder emails meaning members will receive multiple email reminders during this 14-day period to leave their review.

The 14-day window is designed to keep reviews/feedback as up-to-date as possible on a member’s profile/listing. Fresher reviews are also extremely helpful in highlighting any issues that have occurred on a sit, or that may require additional support from our Membership Services team. Most reviews on our platform are already left within 2 weeks of a sit happening, so we don’t believe that this should be much of a change for our members.

The new reviews system is here to help create a safer, fairer, and more trusted platform. It will help to enable a more open and fair review system and encourage impartial, honest feedback from our members. It comes highly requested by our members, so we hope you’re just as excited about the update as we are!
