Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at TrustedHousesitters? Recently, we’ve been thinking about the impact we have on the world around us and what we can do to make a difference. To present our findings, we’ve been beavering away at our first-ever Impact Report, and we’d like to share some of our favorite bits with you.

But first - a quick word from Mathew Prior, our CEO:

“Today, I’m delighted to share with you our very first Impact Report! 2023 marked a monumental year for TrustedHousesitters: we added more than 79,000 pets to our ever-growing, pet-loving community, who were cared for by sitters in 121 countries around the world. In turn, this opened even more doors for you - our incredible members - to travel in a truly rewarding way and help even more pets stay happy and healthy at home. In this report, you’ll find out more about what we focused on in 2023, our focus for the year ahead, and our pledge to always act in the best interests of people, pets, and the planet. Enjoy.”

Our pillars

Pets, people, and the planet are at the forefront of everything we do. Here’s what we’ll continue to do:

Pets

Recognise the importance of pets and how they enrich our lives, always prioritising their health and happiness.

People

Embrace the concept of trust, kindness, and care that all pet lovers share, and how it drives our business forward.

Planet

Commit to reducing our environmental impact and empower our community to do
the same!

Rescue and rehoming

In 2023, our team completed 300+ volunteering hours, and over £52k was given to support charities in vital work close to our hearts – like The Animal Pad.

In 2023, they were facing an unimaginable challenge: a gruelling emergency rescue mission of over 400 dogs. They were in desperate need
of fosterers, adopters, and donations. When our Community Coordinator, Julie, who also works as a volunteer at The Animal Pad, brought this heartbreaking situation to our attention, we knew we had to act.

We donated $10,000 to The Animal Pad, which went towards feeding over 400 dogs in need, along with life-saving medical care, vetting supplies, and cleaning supplies.

We’ve continued to support and work with The Animal Pad on fundraising initiatives and sponsored events, helping many more pets to find their forever homes.

Our focus for 2024: enabling our community to thrive

Helping pets stay safe and happy at home is what we do best! In 2024, we’re on a mission to match more pets with loving sitters than ever before.
