TrustedHousesitters March Through The Streets To Celebrate Brighton Pride

By Liam Beauchamp-Jones | News

On Saturday 5th August, twenty-five members of the TrustedHousesitters team marched through the streets of our HQ hometown, Brighton, in celebration of Brighton Pride. As the largest celebration of the LGBT+ community in Brighton, the event attracted over 300,000 people who lined the streets in glorious sunshine (for the most part) to watch the parade.

The theme for this year’s celebration was ‘Summer of Love’, and we were showing our support and sharing the love with the crowds for all pets, and for all people by handing out handfuls of freebies. Along with the dozens of other floats that took part in the parade, the TrustedHousesitters team walked, and danced, the 2 mile parade route from Hove Lawns up to Preston Park.

Marking 50 years since the partial decriminalisations of homosexuality in England and Wales, people came from all over the globe to witness the world-famous event, including TrustedHousesitters members Victoria and Bauti who were house sitting Nelson the dog in Brighton over Pride weekend. Originally from Argentina, the couple are currently house and pet sitting across Europe.

Our CMO Jess Stephens said; “This was a fabulous opportunity for us to show our support for the LGBT+ community in Brighton and the wider community. Inclusion and equality are key values of TrustedHousesitters and what better way to show this by being loud and proud at one of the biggest celebrations of inclusion and love. We can't wait to do it all again next year!

Thank you to everyone who cheered us on and supported us along the route. If you were at the event and have any pictures of the TrustedHousesitters team, we would love to see them! Share your pictures with us on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #TrustedHousesitters.
