Breakfast in the Big Apple just got a whole lot sweeter. Turns out there are only a select few dog-friendly cafes in NYC that welcome not just two-legged spenders, but their fluffy, four-legged companions as well. Whether you’re after a walkies pit stop serving up the best blends and dog treats or a cozy corner perfect for people watching, a caffeine-kick and cuddles, find eight pooch-friendly spots here that open their doors (not just their porches) to dogs. So, if you’re house sitting or you’re welcoming a pet sitter soon and you'd like to make a few recommendations, here are some of the best dog cafes NYC has to offer…

Boris & Horton Cafe

Maybe one of the most talked-about dog cafes in New York City, Boris & Horton was founded by coffee lovers who understand what it’s like for pet parents (and dog lovers alike) who believe that heading out for a coffee is all the better with a fluffy buddy in tow. With joints like this opening up over the city, pooch lovers no longer need to worry about their furry friends getting cold and scared outside. That’s why this space is inclusive to four and two-legged visitors alike (like these dog-friendly national parks), where everyone is welcome inside to enjoy great coffee and a cozy spot to sit. While their ethos speaks for itself, it’s not just dog treats and hot drinks that this place offers - find a doggy gift shop and even hop along to a dog adoption event.

The Barking Dog

This place is dog MAD (as the top dog cafes in NYC should be). If you’re visiting the city or you live nearby with a fluffy buddy, this has got to be on your pooch’s bucket list. Find an indoor doggy park for your pal to let off steam amongst other four-legged friends - a great alternative to a dog park if the weather’s not playing ball, if you ask us! Even find a doggy water fountain, and rest assured, your pooch is welcome to dog treats, and you coffee.

South 4th Bar & Café

If you’re a coffee lover about town with a pooch by your side, this spot in the Bronx is a popular one amongst canines and their humans. Like all the best coffee shops NYC has to offer, this spot opens their doors to your four-legged friends, where you’ll find top-notch coffee and pooch-loving staff that’ll make you feel at home and welcome. And if you happen to pass by and hear more noise than usual, pop along for their Kings of Karaoke night!

The Bean

Find this dog-friendly cafe at 2nd Avenue and East 3rd for a laid-back vibe and great coffee. A popular one amongst students, this cafe is ideal if you’re after somewhere that takes its coffee as seriously as its internet connection. Stop by for a coffee classic, or dabble with The Bean’s more adventurous menu filled with experimental cups of Joe. And of course it goes without saying, the gang at The Bean love to welcome pet parents and their pooches inside.

Chateau Le Woof

This has to be one of the top dog cafes NYC has to offer - not only will you find all the coffee classics you’d expect, but your pup is also welcome to play all day in an off-leash area with other fluffy friends. And if you’re short on pooch supplies, check out Chateau Le Woof’s pet market, where you can stock up on healthy treats for your best buddy.

Cafe Bark

This little spot will give your pup something to shout about: the best dog cafes NYC has to offer let pets inside, and Cafe Bark is no exception. This dog-friendly cafe opens its arms (and doors) inside the coffee shop, giving you the chance to tuck into your favorite cafe treats with your pooch pal right by your side (unlike most cute cafes in NYC). And it’s not just a lovely atmosphere and great treats this place serves up - check out its events calendar for a pooch-friendly outing and head to the boutique made for pups and their humans.

Black Lab Coffee

Brought together by a family who loves dogs, this is more than any old dog-friendly coffee shop in NYC. Sitting in the upper west side, this spot was founded by people who know how important it is for pet parents to go about their daily life with the company of their fluffy pals. Find top-notch coffee, wine and bites to eat, and of course, treats for your canine companions.

Hutch & Waldo

Sitting in the city’s upper east side, this highly Instagram-worthy, pet-friendly cafe is so worth the hype. Opening their arms and doors to your fluffy friends, this spot is Australian-inspired, serving up fresh food that prioritizes local produce. And if top-notch bites are your thing while traveling, check out the pet-friendly restaurants San Francisco has to offer next time you're pup sitting in the area.
