Their aim is to sell nutritionally-sound eats including sustainably-sourced fish and Red Tractor Assured poultry. The cakes are baked in their kitchens daily, which fills the place with sweet, homely aromas.

Ideal if you need a pick-me-up, it sits right next to Harrison Park in Shandon - one of Edinburgh's most popular dog parks! And the treats aren't just for us humans. Your pooch can help themselves to the jar of dog treats as you tuck into this trendy spot's savoury breakfast and lunch eats.

Along with their classic menu, this place is filled with colourful art prints and antique furniture. You can be 100% sure your pooch pal will be welcome, just look for the doggy walls of fame of all their canine regulars.

Another coffee shop in Stockbridge, Edinburgh to welcome your pooch pal. If you're truly into your coffee, this place will be ideal - choose from their carefully tended espresso as well as other hand-brewed coffee classics made with a seasonal selection of beans. The Pantry

Address and map pin: 1 N W Circus Pl, Stockbridge, Edinburgh EH3 6ST

According to the pair who started this place, their brunches have become the talk of the town, although they have been mentioned in the Sunday Times. Enjoy seasonal dishes alongside the classics, and go with the flow at this place ideal for foodies. And no worries if you're flying the veggie flag - one of the founders, Charlotte, is too. It's not just their wicked food choices that we love about this place, either. Just check out those dish names…

La Barantine

Address and map pin: 202 Bruntsfield Pl, Edinburgh EH10 4DF

If you're into patisserie alongside your morning coffee, La Barantine will be right up your street. The owners, Céline and Vincent previously owned a boulangerie-pâtisserie in northern France, and have since opened La Barantine in the Bruntsfield area of Edinburgh.

Take hand-made artisan loaves after your morning patisserie stop, and choose from a selection of quintessentially French breakfast and lunch bites. And if you thought we'd forgotten about the coffee - well this place has its very own coffee menu which, by the looks of the website looks thick, creamy and just how it should be.

Patisserie Florentin

Address and map pin: 5 N W Circus Pl, Edinburgh EH3 6ST

As coffee shops in Edinburgh go, this is perhaps the best dressed. After the sad closure of the city's beloved Blue Bear Cafe, this has become the next best alternative. Not only are they canine companion compatible, but they even have dog pastries. Yeah, that's right, dog-friendly pastries! Don't worry, the super friendly team have a clean paws way of making sure you won't accidentally end up with a pup pudding.

For humans, there are plenty of hearty classics like sourdough toast, sandwiches, and loads of tasty treats to accompany your tea or coffee. Although dogs are unable to have their cups of tea, the cafe does provide designated dog bowls. It is possibly one of the most dog-friendly places in the city (without being part pet shop).

Hideout Cafe Old Town

Address and map pin: 5 Upper Bow, Edinburgh EH1 2JN

As the name suggests, the Hideout Cafe is tucked away in Edinburgh's historic old town around the corner from Edinburgh Castle. All though small this packs a daily menu of breakfast classics and sandwiches, alongside an extensive menu for coffees, teas, and other beverages.

Doggy treats and a bowl of water are, of course, all part of the service making this small slice of Edinburgh makes it a cafe for dogs as much as for us owners.

If you and your pup are looking for a cafe with a growing range of menu choices including beetroot hummus, breakfast brioche, blueberry French toast, eggs Benedict, seasonal soup, and vegan cakes, this may be the place for you.

Did we mention your canine companion is welcome too? No? Well, they are, as are the free dog treats on offer. A dog-friendly eatery that also offers scrambled tofu is a win-win these days, particularly in Edinburgh. Although this has more of a restaurant layout, this trendy yet comfortable corner offers a wide range of options for you whilst allowing your dog to chill out and enjoy the vibe.

The Old Spencer Cafe

Address and map pin: 40-42 Queen Charlotte St, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 6AT

If you and your pup are looking for an old-school, dog-friendly cafe held in such high regard they appear first on a Google search. Well, you'd better head to The Old Spencer Cafe then! Edinburgh boasts many fabulous cafes, many of which are dog-friendly, but this place takes the dog biscuit.

Along with a jar of dog treats (with an open jar policy, of course), you can find cafe classics like pork scotch egg, vegan options like falafel paninis, smoked cheddar ciabatta, and sweet treats like cinnamon rolls and cakes. This may not be your traditional sit-down restaurant, but it's not going for that vibe. Coffee, tea, dog love, and Edinburgh etiquette are what you'll find in the wonderfully homely hound haven.
