Hi! My name is Tara and my husband's name is Richard. I'm an Australian. Rich is American. We are currently traveling the world, slowly, one house sit at a time. It's a dream we've had forever and now our daughter is off to university in Australia, we're finally living our dream. I'm a writer (both fictional and travel blogger) and Rich is my trusty editor, driver and sanity saver (aka right hand.). We were homeowners in the U.S. For 20+ years and in 2012, sold everything and moved (home) to Australia. We've been here for 4 years and are now considered 'digital nomads'. Our home base is wherever our daughter is, otherwise it's wherever we are at the moment.
Why we want to house sit
We're slowly traveling the world, one housesit at a time.
I'm a writer (both fictional and travel blogger) and Rich is my trusty editor, driver and sanity saver (aka right hand.).
As full-time travellers, we'd like to 'give back' as it were and allow others to travel without having to worry about their house and pets. We know how challenging that is, having had a house and pets of our own in our ‘former life’.
Since we are travelling full time, we like the idea of being somewhere for more than a day or two, to immerse ourselves into the areas we stay. We also like the idea of slow travel, having a bed to sleep in for a while, one that isn’t our tent or an Airbnb somewhere. We like to be somewhere where we can write and work without having to do all that at a picnic table or in a coffee shop for once.
Most of all, we're looking forward to getting our pet fix. Having had animals all our lives, it's been a hard adjustment not having pets since moving (back) to Australia. There’s nothing better than walking a dog, toss a ball or a frisbee, having a cat crash on your lap, or goats follow you around a paddock. We love that and this is our way to get our pet fix as we go.
House sitting relevant info:
We are ex-homeowners (20 years) of a few houses now, and were renting in Sydney for the last 4 years. In March 2017 we began travelling full time, now our 'nest' is empty. We have reputation of being fastideously clean, very responsible and extremely reliable. We have been pet owners of cats, dogs, fish, aquatic frog, chickens, cows, sheep and geese, all of which were very spoiled. We look forward to treating your home with the utmost respect and spoil your pets as if they were our own . By the way, my husband's nickname is 'St.Francis'. I have no chance when it comes to being the favourite with pets...I'm simply the one to bring their food & water. =)
Review by Sally (Augusta, Western Australia) - through Trusted Housesitters
It was with a great deal of confidence that Peter and I set off for a much needed holiday in France and the UK in August 2017. We entrusted Caesar, our two and a half year old energetic weimaraner to Tara and Rich for three and a half weeks in our home in Augusta, Western Australia. We had been emailing for several weeks prior to our arrangement, but had not met until the day before we left. Tara and Rich arrived promptly in the afternoon and we steadily went through Caesars daily routine and pointed out his (my) little quirks etc. Notes were carefully jotted down as we went through everything. It was love at first sight for Caesar and Rich and we suspect Tara enjoyed his company too, we were delighted. He was given his usual walks plus a few bonus ones we understand - lucky boy. His beloved frisbee was presented at every opportunity along with other toys and never disappointed. Regular updates and pictures were sent to avoid any anxious moments. We found our home as fresh and clean as when we left on our arrival home and the garden energetically flowering and productive. Tara had baked a wonderful vegetarian lasagna for our dinner together which enabled us to unwind and debrief before they departed the following day. Peter and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tara and Rich as totally honest and reliable house and pet sitters and would certainly invite them again were they available. We wish them well with their journey onward travelling the world in this way. A delightful and interesting couple who will be welcome in our home at anytime in the future. Thank you Tara and Rich a job well done!

As soon as we met Tara and Richard we realised that we had chosen the right people to look after our animals and home for eight weeks. They listened to our instructions and made notes.
We had only been away for a couple of days when our opinions were confirmed. We received a very positive email, with pictures of our dogs. They continued to keep us informed for the entire time. If they had any problems with anything they contacted us. Generally they solved problems themselves.
On our return the house was spotless and all animals looking very well.
I could not recommend any couple more confidently than Tara and Richard

Amazingly wonderful couple. I left Tara and Richard in charge of my 2 cats, 1 who is very demanding. I got photos of the cats from them while I was away, they were very happy. I really recommend Tara and Richard to everyone as they were wonderful with my cats, my property was beautifully clean when I returned and the fridge was full of essentials including a beautiful home cooked lasagne, that was so, so, tasty. I recommend Tara and Richard they are a 10 star pet and home minders.

Richard and Tara Marlow house sat for me in March & April 2017. I have a large lawn and garden that needed to be maintained. I found both Richard and Tara to be very honest and reliable and friendly, they took great care of my home and garden. I would not hesitate to recommend them, and I hope to have them house sit for me again in the future.

House in Epping N.S.W. - Gary Yeung
My name is Gary Yeung and I manage the property at 5 Rawson Street, Epping, NSW 2121 on behalf of the landlord Ms Jun Shen since mid 2013. Tara Marlow and Richard Marlow were the first group of tenant that moved in to 5 Rawson Street from 1/7/13 to 21/4/14.
The Marlow always pay their rent on time. They keep the premises and the garden in good condition and I have no issues with them when I did my periodic inspection. They are very pleasant couple. They had also vacated the property and handed over the keys to us in accordance with the terms of the Lease. I understand that they are planning to house-sitting for others and I am sure that they will look after the places well.

House in Westleigh, N.S.W. - Alex Mees
It is with pleasure that I write this reference for Tra, Richard and their daughter Natalie who I have now known for approximately two years. I was the property manager for the home they were leasing at 90 Duneba Drive, Westleigh. Richard and Tara were model tenants - rent was paid monthly and always on time, the property is extremely well presented and maintained (including the pool and gardens) and they also took it upon themselves to complete minor maintenance jobs at their own cost.
Richard and Tara were extremely personably and friendly. It was a delight visiting the property and communicating with them and I was always greeted with a smile and a cuppa.
As a property manager and landlord myself, I highly recommend recommend the Marlows and for any property and know that they will look after it as if it were their own.

I have known Tara and Richard Marlow for the past 10 years on a social basis and they have been guests in my house a number of times, when they have holidayed in Australia. Overseas guests are always fun to have visit, but sometimes this can put a strain on routines. Not so in the case of Tara and Rich Marlow. They have proved to be unobtrusive and helpful when they stay.
They are both responsible in their attitude as guests, and their attention to care when it comes to cleanliness and respect for property is top notch. Rich is a wonder in the garden and Tara’s baking was a treat to return home to after a day at work. I believe this comes from their own experience as proud home owners, appreciating the work required to first become a homeowner and the care required to maintain a property. I would not hesitate to recommend them as housesitters, as I am confident that the house would be well cared for in the owner’s absence.

It is my pleasure to provide a character reference for Tara and Rich Marlow.
I have known Tara and Rich for several years both professionally and personally as all three of us worked for Apple. Tara and I worked very closely together on the same business team. The positions we held were deadline-driven and demanded great attention to detail. Over the time we worked together in our respective stressful jobs, we became good friends. During the course of our friendship, it was my privilege to attend their wedding and, just last year, to stay with them in Sydney for a week where they were the best of hosts.
Tara and Rich are people of great integrity, responsible, reliable and kind. I would want to have them as my next door neighbors.
