G'day! My name is Ruth and I'm a mature, single woman.
All of my kids have just left home, my employer has shut down and now I'm free to start doing what I love: travelling, exploring new parts of the world, meeting new people, their fur babies and making new friends from all walks of life.
I've previously spent time travelling Scotland, England, France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Holland, China, New Zealand and my own backyard - Australia! I love the challenge of change and experiencing cultures, places, sights and sounds that are new and exciting.
My hobbies at home are cooking, sewing, gardening, dining out and bush walking.
Why I want to house sit
Now that I'm entering a new chapter in my life, I have really caught the travel bug. I want to get back to the UK and Europe and spend less time sight seeing and more time living like a local. I'm always amazed at how different the lifestyle is in different countries and even different towns. (Which is worlds away from suburban Australia)
I am hoping becoming a house sitter will allow me to travel for longer and spend more time immersed in local communities while keeping accommodation costs a little lower.
I am an animal lover, especially cats. I have one 12 year old cat Emmy. My cat will be moving in with her other favourite human, my son Joshua. So she will be very well cared for while I am away.
I've had cats my entire life but previous members of our family include dogs, fish and birds. 13 years of my life have been spent on rural properties where I've also had horses, chickens, ducks and turkeys.
I'm ready to embrace my life and the challenges that the travelling lifestyle will bring and hope that I have an opportunity to meet you soon!
My experience
I am now on my fourth house sit in Halstead UK, and I am enjoying the experience and you can see in my reviews from my previous sits my home and pet owners have been happy with me. I have really enjoyed looking after animals that have had such a wide range of personalities.
I do have experience with a wide variety of animals and have also spent weeks on end travelling before. So finding my way around and surviving new cities is not new to me.

It was an absolute pleasure to have Ruth stay in our apartment and look after our cats while we travelled to the States. Being so far away it was essential that we felt confident in leaving everything, and since we knew as soon as we talked with and subsequently met Ruth, we went away feeling totally happy.
Ruth sent very regular and wonderful pictures of our happy cats who cuddled and lap-sat with a real cat lover and someone who is very knowledgable about them. This was great, especially as one of them had a touch of diarrhoea very unusually and was evidently feeling a bit sorry for himself. She gave us regular updates, bought fresh chicken and cooked it, and calmly nursed him back to health within a short time, all the while giving us no cause for concern. Ruth also dealt with a water leak from a loose washer; I hardly had time to text back before she'd sorted it all out.
Finally: when we arrived back to a beautifully clean and tidy home after a long and exhausting journey, we found a beautiful orchid, a bottle of wine, a fridge with a selection of staples, cold cuts, fresh milk - everything we could desire for a late night snack and breakfast the next day - and a lovely card. We felt totally spoiled and so very appreciative.
If you are going away and want to know without a doubt that you're leaving your home and pets in totally capable and very loving hands, invite Ruth to sit for you - you couldn't make a better choice.- Organised

Ruth sent us pictures everyday and let us know what she and the the pets were up to..so reliable and responsible..I recommend her and would ask her back at the drop of a hat.. I really don't have the word to describe how wonderful Ruth was. I was away for over 5 weeks and from the initial contact Ruth was professional, organised and extremely competent and knowledgeable. She kept in regular contact to reassure me that Nora Cat was fine but I felt extremely at ease knowing that Nora was receiving the best possible care! When I returned home, Nora was extremely happy and relaxed, the house was immaculate ( cleaner than it was when I went away!) and my fridge was stocked! Personally Ruth is also a fantastic person and we are now firm friends. She is extremely honest with heaps of integrity, professional and takes her role as a house sitter very seriously. She is fantastic!
