Currently I am and now working as a governess on a cattle station in Central Queensland and enjoying every minute of this unique once in a lifetime experience. I love riding horses and teaching kids, so this feels like a dream job for me. I have been able to bring my love for nature, science and even the piano to the children I am working, but really I have been learning and experiencing more from life on the station than I will ever be able to impart to my students. My biggest passion in life, besides reading, going on long walk, and baking, is TRAVEL. It makes me feel alive and my life has been greatly enriched by each country, person, and experience that I have had. I am so looking forward to continuing my travels around Australia learning more and experience all that Australia has to offer.
Why I want to house sit
As a homeowner myself, who has left a house, a dog and two cats back in Canada for an extended period of time, I know how stressful and worrying being away can be. I have been lucky enough to entrust my house to a mature, caring couple and would like to offer myself as a responsible, caring, trustworthy, reliable and honest pet/house sitter for you while you are away from your home. In the past house sitting has lead me to some pleasant and unexpected surprises as well as parts of the country I have been travelling through that I likely would not have seen or experienced if it was not for house sitting. I am looking forward to adding more places to my Australian adventure in this way.
My experience
In 2014 I was privileged to house sit my way through New Zealand. I found the experience to be an interesting and convenient way to make the most of my travels and let housesitting opportunities guide me to some well known, but also some less traveled areas of the country. I looked after a variety of pets during my stay in New Zealand including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles and fish. Having grown up on a farm in Canada with a menagerie of animals, I always felt confident and comforted by the companionship I had caring peoples pets in addition to their homes and gardens. In my current position, on the cattle station, I have been entrusted with a small cottage and garden which I have done my best, in spite of the dust and the hot weather, to keep clean and well maintained. I do hope that I can be a help to you in watching over and protecting both your home and animals as I continue on my trip around this beautiful and diverse country.

Jen rented a room from me just under a year. She was pleasant, respectful of her surroundings and a good laugh.
Clean and tidy, always cleaned up after herself and kept the bathroom clean.
