I am a retired Personal Assistant who enjoys travel, photography, cooking and volunteer activities in my residential village. Having shared my life with both cats and dogs, it has become apparent that cats and I really "click" and I greatly enjoy cuddles and conversation with them, while dogs bring out the more playful side of my personality.
Having experienced my first taste of travel at the age of 18 (due to a 6-month interstate transfer opportunity with my job), and a year's travel around the UK and Europe when 21 years old - I was hooked and (apart from a 20 year pause) have continued travelling at every opportunity! I am a clean-living, non-smoking, responsible and mature Christian individual who genuinely respects and takes great care of the homes/properties/pets (and any vehicles) which are entrusted to me and am very appreciative of sites such as this which offer a "win/win" for pet owners & carers alike.
Why I want to house sit
At the end of 2015 I moved into a retirement village which does not permit pets, so am thrilled to have the opportunity through Trusted Housesitters to care for others' pets while enjoying the experience of living in different geographical environments (particularly cooler climes). I take such responsibilities very seriously and will be happy to provide additional references from past house/pet owners on request (am unable to upload some of these as they have come via other house/pet-sit sources).
I really miss engaging with my furry friends and understand the concern of owners needing to feel confident their pets (and homes) will be cared for in their absence.
My experience
Over the past 10-15 years I have cared for the homes and pets of a (then) employer and several friends here in Australia, participated in house & car EXCHANGES in Italy, France, England & Vancouver Island, as well as PET & HOUSESITS here in Australia and 3 times on Vancouver Island, Canada. I am a clean-living, non-smoking, responsible and mature Christian individual who genuinely respects and takes great care of the homes/properties/pets (and any vehicles) which are entrusted to me. Over the course of my life Fox Terrier, Labrador-X, Irish Red Setter, Jack Russell, Shih-Tzu/Lhasa Apso dogs have been treasured members of my own family, together with Burmese, Persian and domestic short haired cats (not all at the same time!). For 3 weeks I was co-carer of the 20 acre International HQ of a not-for-profit organisation in rural Victoria (Aust.) the responsibilities for which included feeding cows and pigs. Have also cared for 2 horses on another 20 acre property in semi-rural South Australia for 3 weeks. You may rest assured that your pet/s will receive much love and attention whilst in my care.

Valerie was amazing and I would have her back in a heart-beat. She is extremely reliable, trustworthy, clean and tidy. Also my cat took to her right away--which does not always happen. Valerie was amazing and I would have her back in a heart-beat. She is extremely reliable, trustworthy, clean and tidy. Also my cat took to her right away--which does not always happen. I felt very happy knowing Monkey had become friendly with her right away. Valerie is very organized and self sufficient. She even went out of her way to replace a small appliance that had fizzled out. (We discussed the issue first, before she went to replace it.) Valerie was friendly, communicative, and responsible; and Monkey and I would happily have her again!

It has been a pleasure to have Valerie take care of my cats and home while I was away. Having only been home for 2 days, I am still finding signs of her exceptional care. It would be wonderful if our timetables coincided and allowed Valerie to be our pet and house sitter again in the future.

It was a pleasure to care for sweet Tilly and her home. Vanessa and Doug facilitated a smooth introduction by patiently completing the Welcome Pack, providing all the information needed throughout the sit and they certainly made me feel welcome when I arrived in their home. Everything required for the care of Tilly and the home was on hand, together with recommendations for local attractions, eateries, etc. Attention to detail was a real bonus!
I would heartily recommend Vanessa & Doug to future sitters and thank them sincerely for entrusting their pet and home to my care.
