I am a mid 60s professional, (teacher) who owns my own home that I take great care of, in Castlemaine Victoria. With my daughter I share the dotting care of 2 doggies that enjoy a daily fixture of walking and being played with vigorously each day. My career life has been in education and I have held substantial roles of responsibility as a primary school principal (head mistress), educational consultant in New York City, district curriculum project officer and community educator. Now I am enjoying transitioning to retirement by working part-time in district primary schools coaching teachers in the teaching of literacy. I have recently spent school holidays minding grand kids and grand dogs, most often at the same time as photos show. I have begun pet sitting through Australian sites and with retirement beckoning would like to branch out into overseas house/pet sits. I am experienced and confident handling farm stock such as sheep, goats, alpacas and horses. Of course as a teacher I have a Police Check and Working with Children Check and if there was such a thing as a working with animals check I would pass with flying colors! In order to reassure you of my commitment I would promptly furnish you with evidence of my flight bookings. I would welcome the opportunity to offer you further references, career resume, clarifications etc. Gardening is a hobby I love, and I take strange pleasure in plucking weeds from garden beds and contemplating landscapes whilst watering with a hose! Why I want to house sit
I have travelled quite extensively but now like to have 'sit down time'in one spot and get to know locations and neighbourhoods as a local might.
My experience
Over the years our family pets have included a horse, dogs, cats, chooks, ducks, rabbits, guinea pigs, guinea fowl, quail, doves and fish. All of these have been dwelt upon and very well cared for. I have house and pet sitting experience with two Australian House sitting businesses "Happy House Sitters" and "Aussie Housesitting". I have glowing references from those sits, which I have copied below. A teaching colleague writes: I have worked in schools with Heather Brown for many years. Heather is always highly professional, organised and committed. She held positions of responsibility including three principalships, (headmistress). Heather was more than just a house sitter and a wonderful companion for our black labrador, Indie, she is a genuine caring and kind individual. Heather took the time to come and meet Indie and go through the details on how to care and look after our dog and our home before we went away. She communicated throughout our trip and let us know how things were going. We came home to beautiful daffodils and a beautifully clean home and a happy Lab! Heather Brown minded my house for a period of two weeks over the summer holiday period. I left in her care two dogs, two hens, two guinea pigs and an unruly vegie garden. I could not have asked for someone to provide better care to my animals, garden or home. The dogs were walked daily, the pens of the animals spotless and the house was impeccable upon my return. Heather kept in touch via email while I was away, letting me know how everything was going. I could not recommend Heather more highly as a house sitter. Heather housesat for me for ten days whilst I was in Tasmania. I had a brilliant holiday - mainly due to the absolute peace of mind I had, knowing that my house - and more importantly my 7 year old spirited border collie X - were in such capable and caring hands. She kept me updated with super photos of her and Nell having great companionable and active adventures. The house was more than immaculate on my return - and Nell spent the first few days looking for Heather - so well had they bonded, Right from the start Heather connected with Nell and came across as a very able, resourceful and caring person. And she delivered! I recommend her extremely highly to anyone who is wanting the very best of care of their precious best friends.

Without doubt Heather is an absolute gem of a human being.
From the moment she first visited out house before we left we felt extremly comfortable that we had made the right choice.
Her attention to detail, level of professionalism, genuine caring attitude were clearly visible.

From the moment she first visited out house before we left we felt extremly comfortable that we had made the right choice.
Her attention to detail, level of professionalism, genuine caring attitude were clearly visible.
We have two labs who are quite challenging to say the least and they took to her instantly.
whilst away Heather kept us informed of how things were going and even sent us daily videos of their runs etc. it is these little things that make a huge difference.
When we returned the house was immaculate and our dogs were in fine form.
Heather i cannot thank you enough for all that you did.
I cannot recommend her enough ti anyone looking for a first rate, genuinely caring and trustworthy person.

Heather is the perfect dog and house sitter. Whilst we were away Heather cared for our dog Nacho like he was her own, which gave us the reassurance we needed to relax and enjoy our holiday. It was so comforting to know that Nacho was with Heather. We knew from our first conversation that Heather was very knowledgeable about dogs and that Nacho would be in in very safe hands. We also knew that because of Heather's warm and friendly personality that Nacho would get the love, attention , cuddles and long walks he was used to. Nacho was poorly whilst we we were away and Heather immediately took him to the vet and dealt with the situation whilst keeping in contact with us abroad. What a star!
Heather also diligently looked after our house and garden whilst she was here and we came back to an immaculate house, garden and thriving tomato plants!
I have endless praise for Heather and what she did for us and Nacho. I would definitely recommend her as sitter and I, as would Nacho I'm sure, would love her to come back here anytime.- Organised

She has held many positions of responsibility including three prinicipalships, (headmistress). As well Heather has a passion for exploring new places in Australia and overseas. We have travelled together and rented houses in Italy and along the Victorian coast. Each time Heather has always received excellent feedback from property owners and encouragement to return. Heather has three 'grand dogs' and lucky for them she is an avid walker. I see her several times a week walking and playing with those doggies in the bushland near my home. They obviously love her! As a classroom teacher Heather always had class pets and continues to demonstrate her fondness for all creatures great and small.
