My name is Karolina and I have always had a special connection with animals and I have always had pets as a child that I was taking care of (several dogs, birds, turtle, small pets). The chemistry between me and animals is spectacular: dogs, cats and other animals come to me even when they see me for the first time and they love to be around me. At the same time my family loves to be around animals as well. We had a Bernese mountain dog named Azzaro who unfortunately lived for only 7 years because of cancer. He was such a sweetheart. During that time we were regularly taking care of many of our friends' dogs and cats while they were away. Later we got another Bernese mountain dog named Bernard who is a great companion to my widowed mother while we are traveling. Luckily our consulting and online work allows us to spend only certain months of the year working and also we can work from any place in the world. The rest we use for traveling.
I love baking, photographing, exploring different cultures and countries, and tasting local food. Together with my husband Mark we are responsible parents of currently 3-years old Adam who completely shares our passion for all animals. He just loves them all. You should see Adam spending time together with Bernard (the Bernese mountain dog), they are an amazing couple :). No worries about our son being around your precious pet, he is absolutely amazing with animals and at the same time he is so careful with them.
My husband Mark is an extremely well organized and responsible person who has 4 university degrees from leading schools such as London School of Economics, including PhD in Economics or MBA degree. He published some books and articles and was leading various academic courses before he turned 30 when he was working as associate professor. He is leading our current consulting company and previously he founded and sold another consulting company. He also loves animals and was growing up with 3 dogs, a cat, aquaria fish and iguanas.
We are enthusiastic travelers and have lived in several countries on several continents throughout our lives (UK, USA, Belgium, Austria, Singapore, Malaysia) and visited many more. Even though we traveled most of Australia and New Zealand in a campervan, traveled through China, Vietnam, and other Asian countries in trains, traveled 38 US states by car, traveled half of Sri Lanka in a tuk-tuk, been to pretty much every European country and to some sacred mountains and sites in places like China, India, Thailand, or Mexico, our best traveling memories will always be connected with animals: whether it was bathing and playing with baby elephants in a lake in northern Thailand, very close encounters with blue whales in Sri Lanka, Quebec, and US Pacific NW, trying to avoid close encounters with kangaroos while driving in Australia (they really jump in the way), watching grizzly bears and wolves in the wilderness of Yellowstone, following hoards of buffaloes in Badlands (South Dakota), spotting some big cats in Sri Lankan and Indian mountains, enjoying the peaceful Scotland with its millions of sheep but virtually no people, or just simply spending time with grandparents in Europe at the countryside with farm animals like cows, sheep, pigs, or chickens.
Why we want to house sit
During our round the world travels we have always been searching for a place to stay where animals live. We have stayed in many places with owners who have dogs, cats, small farm animals, horses, fish, even reptiles. We love animals and animals naturally love us and this is immediately visible and noticeable. Our son is very good with animals, he's been exposed to pets since he was born and is naturally attracted to them and loves to give them all the love his small heart can give. We've been to over 50 countries so far and have references from many incredible places where we stayed from 4 continents. Unlike many, we are not simply looking for a free short-term stay. We are looking for the opportunity to spend some quality time with your beloved pet to simply enjoy being with and taking care of your incredible animal. The nature of my and husband's work enables us to work from any place in the world at our pace, so we can fully dedicate our time to the needs and requirements of your beloved pet and your house.
Together with my husband and our son we have a large Bernese mountain dog named Bernard in our European house. Our son just loves all animals and is supplying them with love, hugs, and protection. Before Bernard we've had another Bernese Azzaro who unfortunately passed away at the age of only 7 (cancer). I had other dogs, bird, turtle, and small pets such as rabbits when I was young. My husband also had few dogs, a cat, aquaria fish and some reptiles (iguanas) when he was young. For all of us including our son it is natural to have animals around us and to take care of them. We have been housesitting for our friends only so far in various continents during our travels and living abroad (Australia, Asia, Europe) as well as in our house in the past.
