  Tom came to housesit alone due to the fact that their daughter needed some medical attention and Janet stayed behind to take care of her. We had no problem with that, only sad Janet didn't get to enjoy the stay with Tom.
  It was planned for Tom to come 2 days before we left so that we could get to know him, and he us, and our cat.
  We had an extenuating circumstance as there was a hurricane headed our way. He asked my thoughts on that and I told him we should watch it and decide about 3 days before if he should delay. ( The airlines were offering free change of flights). Three days later, I told Tom that it was not going to come to our side of the island and that he would be fine coming as planned, however, if he wanted to stay there to be sure his daughter was ok, he could delay 3 days. He told me he chose to delay "because of the weather forecasts" they were receiving about the storm. I again told him he would be fine flying in, the weather wasn't going to affect us, and they wouldn't fly in if it wasn't ok. (In Toms defense, the news seems to always want to sensationalize everything, I wish they would not do that and that he would have believed me over them.)
  So Tom chose to come after we left, which was not ideal for us. We have a large home with a lot to know about and I really like meeting the people I am trusting my home to. Hence the "3" for reliable.
  Once here, Tom was great. Our cat was happy and healthy when we returned, our house of well kept. He even fixed some of our "sticky" doors. Thanks Tom. Chile and flowers awaiting us when we returned, and milk for my coffee:), Tom communicated very well with us while we were away, and we appreciated that as well. He sent us a very funny cat video.. we laughed numerous times about it.
  Thanks Tom for your help. Maybe next time Janet will be able to join in.

  Janet and her husband Tom took great care of our four cats and our home while we were away to celebrate a special birthday. We had the pleasure of spending some time with Janet and Tom before we left as they came a day early to experience our annual small town festival. Janet and Tom are a delightful couple with a fun sense of humor which we experienced when they sent a funny video of our cat Comet singing happy birthday to Geoff. Geoff and I enjoyed the best homecoming returning from our trip. Our cats were relaxed and happy, our house was spotless and a delicious homemade Thai meal was waiting to pop into the oven when we returned. Our experience with Janet and Tom was top notch and we highly recommend them as house sitters.

  Thank you, Terri and Geoff for being exceptional and accommodating hosts! You went out of your way to make us feel relaxed and at home. Great communication prior to and during the sit. Your stunning home (the views from any room and every window started our daily oohs and ahs) is spacious and modern with great outdoor areas for eating and relaxing. We enjoyed exploring delightfully laid back Vashon Island ...peaceful, pastoral and “arty” with a great variety of cute restaurants and boutique shops.
  
  Your four beautiful cats each have unique personalities and are easy to look after and fun to be with. Clear and detailed instructions for the cats were provided.
  
  We felt very lucky to have had this opportunity!

  Janet and Tom were great sitters for Libby, and for our house. From our first meeting over Skype to our goodbyes, they were friendly and responsive.   Janet and Tom were great sitters for Libby, and for our house. From our first meeting over Skype to our goodbyes, they were friendly and responsive. Libby enjoyed all the attention and time running after the ball – her favourite toy! They left things neat and tidy, and went above and beyond our expectations (ferrying us to and from the airport, mowing the lawn, even making us a meal for arrival!). They have tonnes of experience as homeowners and dog sitters, and we recommend them.
  
  While they were originally chosen to watch both our dogs, our lab cross was instantly distrustful of Janet. She has always had a hard time meeting new people, and in this case, she ultimately nipped Janet’s ankle. Thankfully, no one was hurt. This has never happened before, and none of us were comfortable leaving Janet and Tom with Lemon given this dynamic. Despite this, they were happy to stay and watch Libby if we could make other arrangements for Lemon, who stayed in a kennel.

  We are happy to know that you appreciated us completing your housesit. Your original post describes Lemon, as being nervous and “scary to people”. I had noticed also that in your review of a previous sitter you mentioned that Lemon took a while to warm up to people and “wasn’t easy”. Regardless, we took on the sit; having been owners of 4 dogs and having sat over 20 dogs, we felt we could win over your dog. We have been told repeatedly that dogs take to us instantly. Perhaps the process in which we were “introduced” (in a small room in which neither the dog, nor I, could escape) lead to her aggressive response.
  We did not abandon the sit after the 2 biting incidents (one of which, you will remember did break the skin/cause bleeding) because we knew you’d be in a difficult situation being that you had a flight the next morning. We consider ourselves professional housesitters and therefore we agreed to continue with the sit, showering Libby, the dog that remained at home, with love and attention and looking after your house and yard with care.
