Mature, dependable with experience and common sense I would love to be a respectful caretaker of your home and pets. I am a homeowner myself and maintain both a large acreage in Canada and a house in Mexico. I retired early to live on a beautiful island in the Pacific northwest and now grow heritage and cider apples on an organic orchard. I have lived and travelled extensively in the world and have been in situations ranging from off grid jungle living to city dwelling and everthing in between. I am open, honest and looking forward to the opportunities to travel to new places and meet new people.
Why I want to house sit
I find living in a place allows for a much deeper, richer experience. Being able to participate in local culture gives a view not afforded to folks on holiday or just passing through. My love of animals makes it easy to care for and caretake yours.
My experience
I have my own homes and am well versed in maintaining household systems and property. I am an enthusiastic gardener and think time spent in the garden is time very well spent. I have had pets my whole life and have dealt with the needs of aging pets including giving insulin injection and special meds. I foster dogs when I am at my Mexico house for a local canine rescue organization and enjoy the rewards and challenges of training and finding great homes for these dogs.

Carol looked after our house and pets for a long weekend.
She immediately got on really well with all of them and looked after them well.
When we came back the house was tidy, the animals happy and she had even done some gardening.

Carol was an absolute peace of mind while we were away for 6 weeks in Australia. I had never left the dogs for that length of time and it was definitely stressful for me to prepare for the trip. I was always hesitant about traveling to Australia to meet my husband's family because of the length of time needed to see everyone. Trusted Housesitters and meeting Carol has completely changed my ability to wrap my head around traveling and visiting family abroad.
We have three rescue dogs, an 11 year old, a 3 year old with behavior issues and fear of other dogs, and a 6 month old puppy. The 3 year old can be a bit of a handful on walks when he sees other dogs, but Carol was fantastic about working with him with the gentle leader so that she could take him on walks and not get pulled over. He has been an absolute angel on the leash ever since I returned. The puppy obviously needed structure and continued training, which Carol was diligent with. She even took him to a rescue dog parade benefit event at the park one afternoon!
Carol was fantastic about checking in and sending emails and photos of our babies while we were away. She is such a wonderful person and very easy to chat with, that it was a joy to correspond via email and tell her about our trip and hear about her experiences in the Bahamas. When we returned, the dogs were happy and relaxed. My older one tends to stress when I leave and has been known to chew her fur off, but she didn't seem stressed at all. The younger boy dogs had ended up with a bit of a skin condition as we were leaving and Carol was great about giving them medicated baths in order to alleviate the symptoms.
When we returned, the house was in great condition. We had clean sheets and a nicely stocked refrigerator. She even made us breakfast on the morning we returned!
Carol is definitely a dog person and cared for my three babies better than I could have hoped for. I would highly recommend Carol for a house sit!- Organised
