About Paige

Hello - we are a semi-retired, cat-loving professional couple, who live in Victoria BC, Canada, in a home we completely renovated a few years ago. We love it here, and we want to explore other places, too. We've traveled to Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Scotland, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, many parts of the US and all over Canada - we've often thought of doing a house-exchange, but haven't wanted to leave Lewis (the cat). House-sitting through Trusted Housesitters has been the perfect opportunity to try something new!

Why I want to house sit

Well what a perfect solution - finding a way to travel, have your pet(s) and your house taken care of, and experience other parts of the world at the same time. We almost always take the road less traveled - and while tourist destinations are lovely, we tend to appreciate experiencing where and how real people live in real places. Plus, we're not really the fancy hotel type...

My experience

We are both cat lovers, and have past experience with dogs, horses, birds, and hamsters :) We've owned a rental property for the past 15 years or so and managed various tenant agreements over the years - so we know how important it is to respect and care for someones' property. We've also used VRBO quite a bit, so we're certainly familiar with these kinds of arrangements.

While Doug is still working, I'm open to exploring shorter-term house-sits on my own - I have done several house-sits so far, between one and three weeks in length, and all in BC. Using Trusted Housesitters has been a great experience. (see my reviews on this site)

Together, the two of us have done a short-term house-swap with a couple from Vancouver, and some time ago we did a longer-term house-sit for a couple of months in Kelowna. We also regularly care for our neighbour's cat and keep an eye on the house while they travel.

Paige was incredible. She came to our home the night before we left, so she was adopted as a new friend by our social cat very quickly. Paige also understood our rather antisocial timid cat really well, so leaving them in her hands was easy.

Paige was incredible. She came to our home the night before we left, so she was adopted as a new friend by our social cat very quickly. Paige also understood our rather antisocial timid cat really well, so leaving them in her hands was easy.
Paige sent updates and pictures to us while we were away, which is always nice.
On our return our home was spotless. Paige had done so much housework and laundry; I don’t know how she managed to get free time. The fur balls were obviously very content and well taken care of.
We would definitely welcome Paige back to our home anytime.

Paige recently house sat and kitty sat for us while we were away for a few weeks and it could not have gone more wonderful. She is so respectful, considerate and kind. She had all fresh linens ready for us, and even left us a cute note with seaglass she came across walking the beach nearby. We loved receiving photos of our furry friend while away, he was in great hands! We sure hope she will be available for our next trip!

Ashley and Robb are a dream to sit for - it was a privilege to gain their trust. Their home is lovely, and Kitty is a self-sufficient charmer as well as a real joy to have around. I thoroughly enjoyed being situated in North Saanich, with so many lovely parks, trails, beaches and marinas to explore. Ashley and Robb even left me a gift certificate for a dinner out - which was so thoughtful, and very much appreciated. If you get the chance to get to know Kitty and explore North Saanich in the future, you won't be disappointed :)

Paige was absolutely wonderful! She was prompt to respond, and even offered to come out to the house to meet us and our cat. She was very flexible and reliable setting things up, and was sweet enough to send us photos of our furry family member while we were away. Upon our return, we came home to a spotless house, laundry already done, and a welcome card and letter. We have already requested her for our next trip, and see this as the beginning of a wonderful friendship!
