Hi my name is Claire and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I was born in Gosport, England and am the daughter of a British Naval Officer. After my father retired we came to Canada. I still have family that live in London, Reading and Ipswich. I am a 59 year old widow who loves to travel and would love to see more of the world but from a local perspective rather than a tourist as all the best finds are off the normal routes. I am always interested in finding out about other peoples lives and cultures. I love all animals and have had 30 years of having cats enriching my life with them helping me read the newspaper, sending messages on the computer before they are complete, never needing and alarm clock and being told when it is time to relax and cuddle all which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I have never actually owned a dog but love playing with my friends and always have treats close at hand. I love taking dogs for walks because they take you to some very interesting places that you may not have found on your own. I am kind, honest, compassionate, trustworthy, bondable, quiet, clean, tidy and respectful. My passions are photography, scrapbooking, writing and the great outdoors. I am getting myself ready to semi-retire and see more of the world with the companionship of furry friends.I am also a non smoker and social drinker.
Why I want to house sit
I have chosen to housesit as a unique way to see places that are not the usual tourist spots. I feel that you get a better sense of the country that you visit in a whole new light and see the many beautiful areas that would normally go a miss. I know that a lot of unique adventures can be had with the companionship of dogs as they show you all of their favorite places. I would be honored to be given an opportunity to take care of your home as if it were my own so that you could enjoy your well deserved holidays. I have been housesitting (renting) for my neighbour's dad for eight years and have treated it like it was my own and would treat your home the same.I love meeting new people and learning all about their lives and cultures and with housesitting that opportunity awaits. Knowledge is an experience that I would love to expand on.
My experience
As I have spoken of earlier my cats have owned me for over 30 years and I truly love the interaction with them especially the cuddles and unconditional love. My last two cats came from a rescue shelter but in all honesty, pets really rescue us with their love and time. I have always wanted a dog but my career choice has not allowed me the pleasure as my hours were all over the place. I get my dog fix from my neighbor and friends. When they have needed to travel I always offered to help. As for taking care of your home - I have rented from my neighbor's dad for eight years and treat the house like it was mine. I have renovated the bathroom, painted the whole house, transformed the garden and build a new deck - just because I love living here and I will treat your home with the same care and respect as I would want my home to be taken care of. I have all levels of Security and Criminal Record Check done. This was our first experience of using a sitter from Trusted House Sitters and if our experience with Claire is the norm then we shall be members for ever.
Claire is an exceptional person and carer of animals and our six rescue cats can be a handful and are hard work with our gang requiring diff...This was our first experience of using a sitter from Trusted House Sitters and if our experience with Claire is the norm then we shall be members for ever.
Claire is an exceptional person and carer of animals and our six rescue cats can be a handful and are hard work with our gang requiring different food and some medications. Claire managed this with ease and our kitties took to her immediately. Claire is calm and quiet and has a way (at least with our gang) which endears her to animals. One of our somewhat difficult kitties insisted on being friends with Claire even to the point of sleeping in her suitcase, a singular honour indeed.
Claire is very well organized and self sufficient and we came to realize quickly that all would we well both for our kitties and our home. During her sit Claire kept us informed and in touch with accompanying pictures.
We returned home to happy kitties and a clean and tidy house.
Well done Claire and our recommendations are comprehensive and well deserved.

I had to cancel / postpone my trip because of an injury and Claire was very accommodating by rescheduling her time to sit for me in October.Greatly appreciated and we look forward to her staying with Zoe in the fall.
