I am a very responsible, mature, capable woman. I enjoy living with animals and getting to explore the countryside in their company. The house sitting assignments that I have experienced have fulfilled my expectations and even surpassed them. I have had companionship on my long walks as well as during my quiet times. I have felt part of the community that I was in and that is what I had hoped for.
As I am a homeowner, I am aware of the responsibilities and respect that are necessary to live in someone's home. As an animal owner, I am also very much aware of how I can help aleviate their stress when you are away.
Why I want to house sit
I have retired and would love to explore the United Kingdom the winter months. I find people, and places facinating, the history of the region, great books, and great coffee shops all allow me to settle in, even for a short time period. I want to live in a community, and feel that I am part of it. This is done through long walks, finding the local library, local eateries, attending events, and being open to new experiences. Being a fairly independent, solitary person, I find winter is a wonderful time to be in a new location, thus my choice of the season to be in Britain.
My experience
I have house sat in the Yukon, Canada, for 3 months with two great dogs and one cat. I house sat in Kingston, Mass, USA for 2 months, again with 2 dogs and one cat. I am very independent and interested in many things. I have always owned my own home and am very capable of dealing with households and many of the problems that can and do often occur. I have worked in the field of social work and for the last 15 years of my career I worked with the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) in offering services to victims of crime. I have Security Clearance and am bondable. I have no Criminal Record and can provide a Criminal Record check if requested.
I have secured two house sitting positions in England, one i am presently at until january 1st, 2017 and one beginning January 4 until March 1, 2017. I have one in Paris beginning March 3. All of these house sits have animals and that is what I most enjoy.

We were very fortunate to have Janice housesit for us for nearly 3 weeks in April 2017. Our pets and home were really well cared for. She is a thoughtful, self sufficient and practical person and our home was immaculate when we returned. She had no problems managing our very large Labrador and our cat was very content. We can certainly recommend her to others and would not hesitate to invite her back again. Thank you!

This was the first time I had used Trustedhousesitters and I found a real gem in Janice. She was very friendly and communicative from our first contact. Two months was a long time to leave my pooches but they clearl enjoyed their time with Janice. They were in excellent condition when I got back and I know that Janice was out walking them regularly and meeting local dog owners. The house was clean and tidy. I have no hesitation in recommending Janice just sorry she lives so far away and I can't easily get her back again!

Janice looked after my dog and elderly Persian cat for a month. She took very good care of my animals and home. My dog loved her and she kept my home very clean and tidy. I would highly recommend Janice. Your house and pets are in safe hands with her.
