Hello! I'm Ilene and my husband is John. We are nature and animal lovers! My active side enjoys yoga, camping, cycling, hiking, golf, skiing, travelling, and having fun with our two beautiful dogs and six feisty hens. My sedentary side enjoys weaving, spinning, and knitting. John, my husband, enjoys golfing, cycling, skiing, curling, hiking, and travelling. He has hiked the entire Bruce Trail which runs from Niagara Falls to Tobermory - approx. 885 km. His less active pastime is reading and puzzles.....reading hundreds of books and completing puzzles every day! Together we love to go places and see new things. Our three adult children are adventurers so they keep us on the move taking part in their busy life styles. I am a retired primary teacher and John is a retired realtor. We have always owned our own home and we are experts in home maintenance and upkeep. John is quite handy in fixing and repairs and I am quite handy with the vacuum. We can assure you that your home will be cared for and your pets lovingly tended to during your absence.
Why we want to house sit
John and I have decided to pursue house and pet sitting. We like to explore new places through hiking, and cycling.....and an activity called geocaching. It's like a treasure hunt using a GPS device. We love animals and are outdoor enthusiasts. It allows for super dog walks. We would enjoy looking after your furry or feathery members of your family while enjoying the local venues, trails, and scenery. There are so many places for us to explore!
We have always nurtured pets....dogs, cats, a hedgehog, rabbits, and now hens. We currently have Casey, a Brussels Griffon, and Jasmine, a Bernese Mountain Dog. Our six hens are the most amusing. They are so tame that they eat out of my hands, come when called, and they like to be carried around. In return, they provide us with fresh eggs. They are all named. I spend a lot of time with my animals. We have had experience in dog-sitting members of our family dogs. We flew to Seattle to look after Ace, our daughter's dog and we've had two other family members dogs here to dog sit while they were on vacation. We had our first house and pet sit in May 2018 through trustedhousesitters.com so our new endeavour has officially started! It was the best! We have had house sitters at our home and they thoroughly love the experience. Their reviews have enticed us. We look forward to exciting adventures in meeting your pets and getting to know a new place on the map.
