We are Canadian citizens, newly retired from the Federal Public Service, and have enjoyed housesitting as a husband-and-wife pair for foreign ambassadors and diplomats, since the mid '80s.
As a registered Trusted Housesitter, I sometimes housesit with my sister, who is also retired from the Public Service, and an animal lover.
We are non-smokers, physically active, in robust good health, and follow a vegetarian diet and healthy lifestyle.
As seasoned housesitters, we understand the importance of setting clear expectations through straightforward communication, to create a win-win experience for all.

Why we want to house sit
House-sitting gives us the opportunity to visit parts of the world we have not yet explored. With 15-years experience as hobby-farm owners, we have maintained a routine of being up and active early in the morning till sunset. We cannot imagine our time away from home without the company of a purring cat or a friendly dog. You can rest assured that your house, pets and garden are in good hands during our stay.

Our experience
HOMEOWNER EXPERIENCE: As a couple married for +35 years, we've owned, renovated and maintained a number of houses, rental properties, a cottage by the lake, and a hobby farm.
HOUSESITTING EXPERIENCE: Our first housesitting experience dates back to the mid '80s. We had been given the keys to an Ambassador's residence in the National Capital Region. For a period of two years, the 10-bedroom property, sitting on 100 hectares, was our sole responsibility. Our main task was to oversee the work of regular service providers such as cleaning staff, gardeners, and the 24/7 rotation of security officers.
Our second interesting assignment was in 1998 and involved hiring contractors, coordinating renovations and finding tenants for a house, while the owner was posted overseas. We lived in that house for 10 months and completed the agreed-upon project on time and within the allocated budget.
The housesitting assignment with the largest number of animals under our care was in 2016 and involved 60 laying hens, 4 cows with 4 newborn calves, 7 cats and one Shepherd dog. We've also recently completed another interesting housesitting assignment with 17 exotic birds, 5 cats and 2 dogs.
ANIMAL CARE EXPERIENCE: We've had the privilege of growing up with some amazing cats and dogs. Over the years, we've rescued numerous cats, dogs, goats, and even a dozen hens and a rooster following a chicken-coop fire.
About 18 years ago, we purchased our present home and modified some of the outbuildings to make room for our hobby farm project. While homeschooling our children, we learned to milk goats, bottle-feed lambs, care for ducks, geese, poultry, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, canaries, finches, and parrots. All our farm animals were fed organic feed, and lived free-range on a couple of acres. We are no strangers to building and repairing fences, lifting large bales of hay and straw, mocking up barns, gathering eggs, and chasing predators. -- During our pet sitting journey, we've had to care for some of the loveliest pooches and kitties who had grown in age and required Tender Loving Care. We've learned to administer medication for various feral ailments, hand-feed and put diapers on a 16-y.old blind & deaf dog, rub special ointment on a Labrador's bleeding neck and paws, give a daily inhaler to an asthmatic feral cat, wipe secretions from a cat's infected eyes, and keep an eye on a quarantined goat named Houdini.
GARDENING EXPERIENCE: Lyne takes great pride in her organic vegetable and fruit garden. Thanks to a sunny home, she's been able to grow a broad variety of geraniums by taking them inside every winter. She also has success with many types of tropical plants and Bonsai trees. Lyne teaches homeschooled children the basics of organic farming and gardening at the Central Experimental Farm. She also takes them on guided tours of the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canadian Museum of Nature, and Petrie Island's Nature and Interpretation Centre.
PERSONAL VALUES AND INTERESTS: Since retirement, Lyne has been working as a volunteer ski instructor, a storyteller in elementary schools, and she provides home support to cancer patients, as well as end-of-life companionship to terminally ill patients in palliative care.
We are fluent in English and French.

"Lyne and her adult son did a wonderful job looking after our dog and three cats, and our house, for 3.5 weeks in Sept/Oct 2016. She sent us photos and videos frequently, and it is clear the animals had lots of love, exercise, and fun. We came home to a spotless house with flowers, a home cooked meal in the fridge, and the kitchen was stocked with milk, fruit, bread and eggs. Although we only met in person once for a few hours, through our e-mails and phone calls I feel like Lyne is now a friend. "Recently I engaged Lyne to housesit my 8 cats! Per Lyne's profile, I felt she would do a great job BUT until you use someone you don't really know. I am very picky when it comes to caring and overseeing my cats needs and home!
Turns out Lyne did a fantastic job! She followed my instructions very well; amount of food, water, litter cleanup, home and more! My cats were all well and happy when I returned! I don't think they missed me since Lyne won 7 of their hearts over! My home was clean and all in great order! What I liked also about Lyne, is that she was JUST what I was looking for! Compassionate, clean, caring, and VERY RESPONSIBLE! And she sent pics of my cats almost daily!!!

We left our two dogs, and cat with Lyne while on a well needed vacation. From the beginning she had a lovely bond with them and they trusted her energy. She took the time to understand each animal's specific needs. We have a younger poodle and an older Sheltie both which are very different and she immediately adjusted to take into account those differences which is skill not all sitters have. We returned to a spotless home, well taken of and relaxed pets, and she also kept in touch with us the entire time through texts and emails which put our minds at ease! Simply the best!

Lyne and her husband arrived before I left and we got to know each other over a couple of hours. Right away, I knew my cats were in good hands. She is very organized and capable and my cats came to her immediately which pleased me no end.

She kept me updated with messages and pictures during my time away and I never had a moment of wondering if everything was ok.
I returned to a very clean house and happy cats. She had even prepared a light meal for me, knowing I was returning from overseas and probably needed a little sustenance before going to bed......This was most unexpected and very much appreciated.
I would highly recommend Lyne and would not hesitate in having her housesit again!- Organised

Lyne is the best Ollie sitter. She took excellent care of Ollie and my home. Ollie loved having her and missed her when she left. Lyne even made me dinner for the night I returned. Wish she was closer to sit more often.
