We are a retired couple in our early 60s that like to travel. We enjoy animals and miss having a pet in our lives. We enjoy walks, coffee shops,gardening and painting and refinishing furniture. We also enjoy exploring new areas and meeting new folks. For many years we were very involved in our community but retirement is meant to open new doors...
We are a retired couple in our early 60s that like to travel. We enjoy animals and miss having a pet in our lives. We enjoy walks, coffee shops,gardening and painting and refinishing furniture. We also enjoy exploring new areas and meeting new folks. For many years we were very involved in our community but retirement is meant to open new doors. We sold our family home July 2016 and have set out on the road and are doing home sits and Airbnbs.
We have our Nexus Cards.
Why we want to house sit
We want to experience new areas but also miss having the feeling of a home. We have enjoyed pets over the years but our present lifestyle of travelling does not let us own a dog at this time.
Our experience
We have owned our own home and enjoyed our cottage for over 35 years. We raised three children (now grown and living their own lives) and have had 4 dogs in our family and a number of cats, birds hamsters and turtles over the years. We know the work that comes with it all. We have recently sold our main home and have kept the cottage in northern Ontario for the summer. This has given us flexibility to move around in the spring, fall and winter. We miss having pets so this idea of being able to look after pets while their owners are away has intrigued us. We are in good health and like walks. Wet days and blustery days do not deter us. We are responsible and caring of our and other people's pets and home. We understand the work involved in maintaining and keeping a home clean as well as feeding, walking and cuddling with pets. We are non smokers and do not charge for house sits.

Best dog sitters ever. Very flexible and nice people. Very big dog lovers and my dog absolutely loves them. Go out a lot with the dog. Very happy that we (including winnie) know Jan and Allan.

Izzie and Gracie were immediately friends with Jan from the second they arrived at our home. They cleaned our house before they left which was completely unexpected and not required. They are the couple you want to have as neighbours and friends and we feel privileged that they chose us to housesit for.

Jan and Alan are such nice and warm people. They looked after the house and dog perfectly. The house was spotless clean. When we were away we had no worries about our dog. My dog started loving them. This couple is absolutely the best we ever met. Thank you again Jan and Alan, you really are a gift
