During our lives we have had many pets in our families. We both love and appreciate all animals. We don't have any pets now as it is our goal to travel frequently during our retirement.
After Robin retired from teaching 3 years ago, he became a real estate agent but only takes on a very limited number of clients. I assist him with research and administration since all my work experience is in business administration, office management and bookkeeping. We are extremely flexible with travel dates as Robin works closely with 2 other sales agents who take over his clients anytime we are away.
We are both very happy to travel and experience other cultures.
I am also a glass mosaic artist and find great inspiration while travelling in both urban and rural settings.
Robin is a wonderful cook and is happy to emerse himself into the cuisine of any country we are visiting.
We would look forward to caring for someone's home and pets as if they were our own.
Why we want to house sit
It's a big world with so many beautiful, amazing places to see, interesting people to meet, cultures to learn about, activities to participate in and various entertainments to experperience/see. You just can't experience the world in the way we would like by vacationing in resorts, on cruise ships and in hotels. Both Robin and I have done those things in the past and enjoyed them at the time. However we have become used to renting homes through VRBO in different countries and find that we prefer that by far. We are now retired and can travel more frequently and for extended periods of time. It would be rewarding to care for a family's home and pets to allow them to travel worry-free when they are kind enough to allow us to stay in their home enabling our own travel.
We also really miss the companionship of pets and always look forward to interacting with pets in other households. We are well aware of, and experienced with, the work, care and sometimes worry that goes into having pets in the family. We are prepared to care for any animals that are part of a house sit with respect and attention to detail as if they were our own. And we are most happy to do so.
Our experience
Robin and I both had the benefit of pets in our lives until about 10 years ago. Robin had Shelties and cats. I have had a beagle, bouvier, Great Dane, 2 elkhounds, several Siamese cats, 2 tabbys, budgies, lovebirds, iguanas, a Cayman alligator and MANY tropical fish.
As pet sitters we look after Mars, a gorgeous lilac point Siamese for a young lady who travels in the fall and spring for her job.
We very recently had the chance to care for 2 very small dogs, Prague Ratters, in Mels, Switzerland. A very comical pair.
We have stayed in 3 beach homes in the Yucatan, Mexico , 2 homes in the city of Merida, Yucatan, 1 home in San Miguel de Allende in Guanajuato, Mexico and 1 home on the west coast of Barbados.
We are often asked to look after the home of a couple here in Thunder Bay, our hometown, when they travel for work and pleasure.
We also sometimes help a friend of ours who fosters rescue dogs and puppies if she must leave home for more than about 3 or 4 hours or she has to travel out of town.
I have always loved horses, but before I retired I did not have very many opportunities to interact with them. Since Robin and I both have time now, in 2018 we began volunteering twice per week at the Thunder Bay Therapeutic Riding Association. We groom the horses and help saddle and bridle them in preparation for the childrens' riding sessions. I also accompany a child during their ride as a side-walker or I lead the horse.
I have a perennial garden and vegetable gardens that I enjoy tending at home. Robin is very particular about keeping our home and property well maintained all year round.
We are both comfortable in rural settings. I have lived much of my life in the country. We have both grown up with family summer camps and owned them in our adult lives. We have both dealt with wells, septic systems and wood fire heating.

They immediately inspired confidence in their ability to care for both our two pets (dog and cat), as well as the home itself. During the initial walk through, they both ensured they had a thorough understanding of the house routine and our pets specific requirements. As well, both our dog and cat immediately liked them.
During our vacation they made sure to provide regular updates via text. Specifically, our dog suffered a short seizure about five days into their sit. They showed great concern and compassion, informing us immediately and handling the situation like pros. Although we were obviously concerned, we knew our little dog was in good hands.
Upon return, the house was spotlessly clean. Pam and Robyn provided a summary of all the significant events that occurred.
We would not hesitate to have them stay in our home again.- Organised

Pam & Robin are trustworthy, attentive and have a strong understanding of animals. They took great care of our dogs, provided training and sent daily pics, videos and updates. Both Tate & Pebbles were relaxed and happy when we returned home.
Our home was also well cared for and tidy when we returned. Once again we do not hesitate in recommending Pam & Robin care for your home & animals.- Organised

We were very pleased with the care Pam & Robin gave to our home and puppies! We felt comfortable right from the first time we “met” on the phone. Pam has an incredible understanding of dogs, and carried on with dog training and their regular routines while we were away. The dogs immediately warmed up to Pam & Robin; and our dogs were happy, calm and relaxed when we got home. Pam & Robin were also great communicators, sending us daily text updates & pictures. This really gave us peace of mind to enjoy our vacation and know that things were being very well managed while we were away. Our home was spotless, and driveway well cared for and shovelled when we returned home.
We highly recommend Pam, & Robin to take fantastic care of your pets & home!- Organised
