About Tara & Lee
I am married to Lee who is my soul mate and has been my rock in life for the past 21 years. I am married to Lee who is my soul mate and has been my rock in life for the past 21 years. Originally from the UK we are now the proud owners of a large semi-rural property in the hills of Perth, Western Australia. I am a high school teacher of Humanities and the Social Sciences in a local private Catholic College. I have taught in the UK and Australia for over 20 years and love it. My main passion is animals, history and until recently our 'furry' kid Tigger who we sadly lost in February this year at the spritely age of 19 years. I love reading, gardening and anything connected to history. We both enjoy the beach life, climate and outdoor lifestyle of WA. Lee loves his sports motorbike and Xbox! We often ride around the Australian outback stopping for coffee and cake and to soak up natures delights.
Why we want to house sit
We are travelling Europe for a year starting in October 2018 with a focus on France where we want to retire to and realised that it would be great to visit many different places where we could immerse ourselves into local life while providing care and love to someone's pet. House and pet sitting seemed like a perfect marriage of our current home life and our desire to be integrated into a local community. Looking after our own pets has been so important to us for the last 20 years and it is only with Tigger's sad departure from us that we have been able plan this once in a life time adventure. We are looking forward to meeting all the new animals and people.
Our experience
Both, Lee and I have grown up with pets. I always had a dog, cat or fish in my house as a child. I used to take the dog out in the morning and not return until tea time after a day spent adventuring the local English countryside. Another passion when I was a child was horse riding, on a weekly basis I would travel to the local stables every Saturday and Sunday and spend my days voluntarily helping the owners. I would prepare the horses (grooming and saddling) for the paying riders, leading the less experienced and mucking out the stalls in exchange for a free ride after classes had finished. It was always with a sense of sadness that I would have to walk the horses to the paddock at the end of the day!
Lee also grew up surrounded by cats and a dog and has a passion for animal rights.
To earn extra pocket money as a child I used to clean and feed my grandfathers budgerigars and loved to try to teach them to talk. As adults we have had many pets such as cats, fish and even frogs! Tigger was the most pampered and looked after cat and always took priority in our lives. He has for the last 19 years been our precious furry kid and we miss him terribly. We currently have our garden pond full of goldfish and an aquarium with tropical fish. I also feed the local possums and raise Australian wild tadpoles in a separate but secure tank each year until they are independent froglets ready for the wild. We are both passionate about animal welfare and have campaigned for animal rights here in Perth.
Lee and I live on a large semi-rural property in the hills of Perth and are used to looking after a very large garden. We have fruit trees and native bush alongside formal gardens and spend many a happy hour working on our land. Lee is also a very good handyman who deals with all our house and machinery maintenance himself as he was in a former life a mechanic. I feel that as homeowners of a larger property we will be able to deal effectively with any potential issues that may arise while we sit for Trusted Housesitters.

The house was sparkling clean on my return home and I like a clean home! Very kind and considerate people and although only my husband Neil got to meet them, he thought they were smashing. No fuss when our Hettie dog chewed their computer cable. They are welcome here anytime.- Organised
