I have always had dogs and cats living with me but my future plan was to embark on a career break for one year from the end of August 2018 so I have held off adopting any animals since the death of my own 2 dogs and cat in the last 2 years.
Why I want to house sit
I love all types of animal's, traveling, the outdoors, walking, swimming, music, painting, peace, and tranquility.
I have decided that looking after other peoples animals, homes, vegetables, etc. is something that I can and am available to do during my career break. It gives me a chance to travel, have animals to care for knowing I am confident that I can identify any illness should they occur, and give and/or apply any medication if necessary. I am computer and smartphone literate so keeping in touch while you are away would not a problem.
My experience
I lived in Kenya from early 1986 to August 1999 and managed a smallholding where my family lived with our employees, horses, dogs, cats, fruit, vegetables, ensuring a water supply for all on the property. During this time I was a committee member of a Charitable Trust of fundraisers, running a horse race meeting on 26th December annually.
On my return to Ireland in 1999, I worked for the first 3 years in a vet practice and from then as a locum veterinary nurse. In the year 2005, I cared for a maximum of 4 animals in my own home in Co. Dublin for short stays. I then went back to work as a locum and in 2008 I began a locum in UCD Veterinary College for 2 weeks and have been employed in UCD on a full-time basis since then as their Veterinary Hospital Reception Manager and Referral Coordinator where I would arrange equine, farm animal and small animal patient referrals from vet practitioners in Ireland to come to the Hospital for specialised treatment.
I have also looked after friends homesteads in Ireland, catering for their dogs, cats, chickens, goats, plants and vegetables in their absence.

I have known Mary Lou McKeever for over 40 years. On occasions when I have had to go into hospital or away MaryLou has looked after my beloved cats. There are very few people I would trust to look after them. Some of them needed medication and very special attention. This they got from MaryLou. She is completely trustworthy and I would have no hesitation in asking her to mind my house and animals. My animals are very important and special to me. The eldest is over 18 so needs constant care and attention. I completely trust MaryLou with the keys to my house and you could have no better person to mind your house/ animals. The fact that she is a qualified Veterinary Nurse cant be any harm!! If you need any further information you can contact me. I can completely recommend her to look after your house/pets
