I am a Canadian citizen (with dual Slovenijan citizenship) who has been living/travelling in Europe since 2009. I was born and raised in British Columbia (Canada), and completed my Bachelor Degree in Journalism at Thompson Rivers University, Kamloops, in 2008. After graduating, I decided to travel around Europe, and have been here ever since. I have lived in Scotland and England, and I have also travelled to Ireland, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Italy, Slovenija, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Austria. I became a TEFL teacher in 2014 and have taught children in both Spain and Italy, but my primary job is working as a freelance writer-editor for a walking tour company based out of London.
Why we want to house sit
I want to house sit because I yearn to discover and experience new cities and cultures in Europe, and also because I want to spend time with pets during my holidays. Because I am always travelling, it is difficult for me to own a pet, and I am hoping through my housesitting experience I will be able to combine my passion for travel and love for animals in one unique and unforgettable experience.
Our experience
I am a professional, mature, responsible, and caring individual who takes looking after other people's precious possessions, property and pets seriously. I have an immense amount of compassion for animals, and I find it self-rewarding to bond with pets of any kind.
Since signing up for this website last year, I have completed four different dogsits in Switzerland, England, and Scotland, and cared for various dog breeds ranging from teacup chihuahuas to Staffies and German Shepherds. Besides taking dogs for their regular walks and bathroom breaks (at the times requested by the owners), I was also responsible for administering medication, providing personal pet care and grooming, and most importantly, making the dogs feel as comfortable and loved as possible while their owners were away. I also successfully fulfilled requirements centered around general upkeep of the house, maintaining house cleanliness, plant and garden care, and securing the house with various home protection systems.
Pets have been an important part of my family all my life; I owned 2 cats as a child, two dogs as a teenager, and many guinea pigs and rabbits as an adult. I am a homebody who spends most of my time indoors writing, but because of this I enjoy going on long walks in the outdoors. I like to spend my nights watching TV and movies alone, curled up on a couch, with the companionship of a pet (when possible).7
Before becoming a teacher I used to clean hotels and worked as a manager of a hostel in England. I am a clean and tidy person who enjoys cleaning to take a break from my writing.

Alexis and Adam were absolutely wonderful! Our pup felt at ease while we were away because they took such good care of her. They spoiled her with lots of love and fun. Maggie misses them already :) They also left the house clean when we arrived home. They are welcome back any time!

what a joy! This capable, caring and efficient young woman looked after our dogs and home with great enthusiasm and kindness. The house was cleaner than when we left it and the dogs pined for her when she left. So amazing was she with our pups we named her the "dog whisperer".

Alexis made sure she understood Bertie's daily regime and how 'things' in the house worked, she was extremely thorough, making us feel very comfortable leaving everything in her very capable hands.- Organised
