We are flexible and available to love your pets, care for your home, and tend your garden, as if it were our own. We are active, energetic people who love to learn about the world, travel, love other people's pets, meet like minded people and swap stories.
Why we want to house sit
We are former homeowners, landlords and renters, so we understand the value of a reliable, honest, trustworthy house sitter who will care for your home and beloved pets as much as you do.
Over the years we have owned and loved our ow dogs, cats, chickens, guinea pigs and a horse. We have owned homes in US and New Zealand, from a large home on 5 acres in the country, to small apartments and homes in the cities and suburbs.
We would love the opportunity to send you off on your next trip away from home, with your mind set at ease, comfortable in the knowledge that we will take care of your home just as you would.
Our experience
We have been house sitting for over 3 years in New Zealand, UK, France and USA including: 5-25 acre small farms in NZ and USA running cattle, sheep, horses, donkeys; suburban and country homes with dogs and cats; city apartments with cats and dogs.
Our background:
I am a Kiwi girl who was raised on a sheep farm in New Zealand. I spent 8 years traveling/working around the world in my 20s/30s. I am an animal/nature lover, exercise junkie, avid cook and keen organic gardener, who has had a long career in office management. I take care of the details, organise the home, and make sure everyone is happy, well fed and comfy ... but I'm useless with anything mechanical!
My husband is a California boy, with a long and varied career as an engineer/computer programmer/boat builder/car builder/cabinetmaker/small business owner and a volunteer pole vault coach. In his younger days, he built a yacht and sailed around the US West coast and Pacific for several years. He's the handyman around the home, is resourceful, can fix anything or get any motor running, and can generally solve any problems that may crop up in the home ... but he's useless in the kitchen beyond making the coffee and pouring the wine!

I cannot more highly recommend Sue and Doug to look after your house and animals. Everything was fine as I had asked and more. They dealt with the worrying couple of days of rising flood water from the river with great calm! I never had to repeat one thing and the little idiosyncrasies of one’s everyday life was just taken in board with no questions asked. Thank you Sue and Doug. Sue and Doug proved to be fantastic house and pet-sitters, and we were able to completely relax on our holiday, safe in the knowledge that they were reliable, conscientious, friendly, and completely unflappable - even in the face of a boiler breakdown, which they managed with very little need for input from us. They made friends with our cat straight away, and he seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed their care - sending us photos of him looking completely relaxed with them was a lovely touch! Sue and Doug looked after the house really well, and we returned to a gloriously clean and tidy abode. Finally, we have to thank Doug for his excellent advice and help with the camper battery - it behaved perfectly from then on!
