Daniel works from home as a Freelance developing websites and applications. He loves a good challenge! When he was young, he was an expert in legos construction and strategy. He can stay hours trying to solve a problem, and he would like to improve his knowledge in carpentry.
Raquel is a life and learning lover so she has a lot of interests. She has worked in Nonprofit Organisations since 2005 and in Tourism since 2011. She believes that experiences make us more knowledgeable and rich people, so since 2009 every year she has done international volunteering on her holidays (besides the volunteering she does all the year round in her country).
At this moment we are preparing a family house to be a rural bed and breakfast place, because we love to host, care spaces and all animals, and this kind of activity offers us flexibility and the possibility to work at home. And this is important for the lifestyle that we want for our life.
We are a non-smoking, very peaceful, clean, organised and methodical couple, in a unlimited process of discovering ourselves and the world around us.
Why we want to house sit
We love animals and being caregivers.
For many years we've received people at our house from all parts of the world, so we understood how we love to travel through the cultures and people lifes, even sometimes without going out of our house. We enjoy the outdoors, the countryside, doing trekking, discovering new places and cultures, photography, but also reading a good book, exploring local and organic food and new healthy recipes.
So, our inspiration is “Less is more”, because we are realizing that a lot of things that we used to give a big importance, they are not so important anymore. And maybe another things we were forgetting, because of the quickly days in a big and stressful city, they are now more important… So, we are building a path for ourselves, to move to the essential, to the most simply things, living with less, closer to the nature and to our essence.
Every place has things to learn and places to discover, especially inside us...
Our experience
Raquel parents house was almost a farm, with dogs, cats, ducks, goats, rabbits, peacocks, chickens. She had two horses and rode for 15 years.
Daniel parents house had dogs, cats, fishes, chickens, ducks, rabbits, a guinea pig.
Some of these animals were rescued from the street and animal associations, sometimes with irreversible injuries.
We have a house, so we are used to take this responsibility. Also travelled for over 30 countries in 4 continents, so we easily adapt to new situations.
We speak English, Spanish, Portuguese and we understand some French.
Raquel has the Red Cross European First Aid course, and she is very sensitive to the world humanitarian causes. She has a big background in national and international volunteering work: in social (youth, elderly, homeless people), animal (animal protected society), and environmental associations (permaculture and eco-tourism).
Also we are very interested in Sustainable Development, including Social and Solidarity Economy, Community Empowerment, Ethical and Responsible Consumption, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism, History, Permaculture, Technologies, Healthy Food and Lifestyle.

Raquel and Daniel were easily our favourite sitters so far !! Lovely people , great with the dogs and looked after house and garden perfectly. We really hope to have them again. Thoroughly recommended.

This was the first time we had left our pets for two weeks. Raquel and Daniel had house sat previously and we were delighted they wanted to return. Alfie (dog) was recovering from an injury, they were fantastic in keeping a check on him and taking him to the vet for his check up. We will be keep...
This was the first time we had left our pets for two weeks. Raquel and Daniel had house sat previously and we were delighted they wanted to return. Alfie (dog) was recovering from an injury, they were fantastic in keeping a check on him and taking him to the vet for his check up. We will be keeping in touch with them and would happily ask them to house sit every time!

Raquel and Daniel are fantastic housesitters and are genuinely lovely people. They are completely reliable in every way and were wonderful with Alfie and our cats. They sent us updates every evening and had cooked for us when we arrived back. We are really looking forward to them returning to us.

We spent a great time at Fiona's place!
Alfie is a super partner, always available for playing, walking or just sleeping together. Bootsie and Jinxie love to be around and they are always up for some cuddles!
Fiona and Phil are super hosts! On our arrival we went for a walk together, with Alfie, and they showed us some places of the city. We felt so welcome! We talked a lot and have found many common interests! It's really good when we start to housesit with an impression that we already know each other and are becoming friends!
We highly recommend Fiona and Phil and their pets!
