My husband, Ian, and I have been happily married for 41 years and had two sons. Our older son, Darren, we lost tragically at the age of 20. Our younger son, Ryan, (34) lives with his wife and baby daughter in Wimbledon in the UK.
Although we will continue living in our home in Durban for the foreseeable future, we love to visit Ryan and Angelique as often as we can. For this reason we no longer keep pets as it would be irresponsible to leave them for prolonged periods of time. However, we do miss not having furry friends to welcome our homecomings!
Why we want to house sit
We love to visit our son, Ryan, and wife, Angelique, and grand daughter, Isabella, in Wimbledon, and although it is lovely to stay with them we also like to have our independence during our stay. For this reason it would be better to have alternative accommodation for all or part of our time in the UK. We are both fit, healthy and active - love walking, swimming, reading and golf.
Our experience
My husband and I have been married for 41 years and lived in our current home for over 30 years, during which time we raised our two sons and furthered our careers. Throughout these years we have owned and loved many pets, mainly dogs and cats. We have generally adopted rescue animals from institutions like the SPCA but have also "parented" a pure bred Staffie. During my career in high school education, I have promoted various wildlife institutions among my pupils hoping to instil in them a sense of responsibility for the environment they will one day inherit and of which they will become custodian. As is required of all educators of children in South Africa, I have a police clearance certificate.
Apart from "parenting" our own animals, we have looked after pets for friends on occasions and last year looked after a delightful dog called Mango in East Sheen for 3 weeks. You will see from the review that Mango and owners werevery happy with us!!!

Jenny and Ian were marvellous. They looked after our house beautifully over the 2 weeks we were away and I think our dog was very sad to see them leave.

Jenny will be your dream house and pet sitter. She is meticulous in everything she takes on and is 100% reliable. She would treat other people's homes as if they were her own and would respect the belongings of others. She is patient with animals and genuinely loves them. She would care for them ...

She would treat other people's homes as if they were her own and would respect the belongings of others. She is patient with animals and genuinely loves them. She would care for them responsibly and kindly. I can't think of a better person than Jenny to entrust a home to...she will not disappoint you.
