Our poorly cat was much doted on and was much stronger and more lively upon our return which was a huge relief. The house was beautiful and clean and we could not have wished for a more friendly welcoming home than we got from them. Nothing was too much trouble. We were lucky enough to spend a bit of time with Jeannette and Thijs after our vacation to get to know them better. They both have fabulous senses of humour and we all thoroughly enjoyed their company. Together, my husband and I have owned and loved seven dogs (Golden Retrievers, Dalmatian, Dachshund, Shih Tzu and German Shepherds), four cats (Siamese and tabby), turtles, parakeets, fish, rabbits, ducks, chickens and, in years past, exercised and groomed other people’s horses. We also have experience administering medication to ailing animals. Having lived on a small, Pacific island for ten years where we ran our vacation rental business one has to be prepared to remedy any number of situations which may arise at a moments notice. My husbands background is in oenology and computer science.and I was a researcher at university and am a writer/artist. We are patient and calm with a great sense of humor!
Why we want to house sit
We sold our business in 2016 and are looking forward to visiting other areas. As we no longer have our own pets we would thoroughly enjoy loving and caring for your beloved pets as if they were our own!
Our experience
Having immensely enjoyed owning and managing our rental business (with excellent references!) we are very well equipped to take care of your home. Our worldwide clients gave us a great experience as well as great ratings with VRBO and AirBnB. We are both international travelers, nonsmokers and financially independent. We are a sociable, educated, organized and down to earth, vibrant couple with skills in gardening, pools, water filtration systems, wood burning stoves, computers, electrical, plumbing and general maintenance. Thijs and Jeannette are a charming couple who looked after our home and our 2 dogs to our great satisfaction. They kept us informed of any interesting events while we were away. They also took us to and brought us back from the airport.

Jeannette and Thijs were lovely pet- and house- sitters. We returned to our home in tip-top shape with our cat happy and well. Jeannette and Thijs were lovely pet- and house- sitters. We returned to our home in tip-top shape with our cat happy and well. They sent photos and updates throughout their stay and an email before leaving about the state of things. Everything was washed and put away - what a great way to come home! They followed up with a final email to check in that everything was okay once we arrived, which was a very considerate. Our cat is missing them. :)
We highly recommend Jeannette and Thijs for anyone looking for organised, self-sufficient and reliable housesitters. You won't be disappointed.- Organised
