Hello, our names are Heidi and Paul, we live in Essex and are married with two grown up children that live independently from us. Over the years we have experienced a range of family pets and loved them all... Well maybe with the exception of my son's rats...I wasn't too keen on them. But we do understand the need for stability, routine and love for your pets. Both Paul and I have been Teachers/Directors in Further Education (Colleges) for the past 15 years. In the summer of 2015 we decided to retire and have an adventure and go travelling. We are both happy, reliable and caring people, who love nature and a range of sporting activities such as running, cycling, skiing etc. We enjoy long walks, reading and going to restaurants (because I'm not a good cook), Paul's big passion is building cars he will talk to you for hours about it, if you let him. We are clean and tidy people that will respect your home and your privacy.
Why we want to house sit
We have decided that life is too short too keep working all time and that we want to take some time out and have an adventure. So we decided to go travelling to enable us to meet new people and gain new experiences, we are happy to go to new countries and immerse ourselves in the culture around us and to attempt to learn the language or stay in the UK visiting new places. We believe that house/pet sitting enhances our adventure, it allows us to enjoy the love of pets and gives us lots of laughter on the way. It will also give us new scenery in places we never thought to go to and new challenges to keep us on our toes.
We started house sitting in October 2015, mainly completing long term house sits and revisits but we have been sitting back to back for two years, listed below are the house sits we have completed:

All sits marked with a * have asked us to revisit, but we've not always been able to accommodate.
A number of the houses that we have looked after have been in excess of two hundred years old, so we are familiar with the associated issues that might arise in these situation including the use of fosse/septic tanks and wells.
During our time of house sitting we have really loved all of the various animals in our care, we love going out for walks with them, cuddling up in the evenings, talking to them, allowing them to sleep on our bed with us, giving medication and taking animals to the vets, we have also driven and maintained a tractor, mended the owners car, maintained the swimming pool/gardens and kept their homes immaculate.
We offer the opportunity of leaving your home and pets in two pairs of sensible hands. In our years of teaching we have faced many challenges, had lots of responsibility, made lots of decisions and looked after thousands of students. We are honest and trustworthy people who would look after your home/pets as if they were our own. I enjoy gardening and my husband is good mechanically and we are happy to put our hand to anything. Looking after animals regardless of age and health is not a problem to us. We are both fit people and love taking dogs out with us and cats if they want to come. We are homeowners and have a 4 bed house in the UK with no mortgage, we have an independent income which is allowing us to have this adventure. We hope you will consider us and become our friends.
