We are a mature friendly early retired couple, who love cats and dogs and many other pets and have cared for many over the years. We would love to explore many parts of the world in our retirement and care for pets and homes. We are both in good health and both drive. We are non smokers and like to keep a tidy, clean home.

We are a mature friendly early retired couple, who love cats and dogs and many other pets and have cared for many over the years. We would love to explore many parts of the world in our retirement and care for pets and homes. We are both in good health and both drive. We are non smokers and like to keep a tidy, clean home.
We take great care of your pets and home and cherish them as you would.
We are both up to date with modern technology and more than happy to keep in touch with owners as much as they would like, including the sending of photos or Skyping etc.
Why we want to house sit
We have been with Trusted House sitters for many years, looking after our house and cat. We know what a wonderful experience it can be for both parties - sitters and pets. We like to explore local communities and help owners to get a well earned break away without worry. We recently lost our cat after 21 years, so are now keen to care for other pets to help fill the void (we can't actually remember a time when we didn't have a pet).
Our experience
We are homeowners both in the UK and in Italy, so used to looking after property in both countries (including pool maintenance) and dealing with any issues that may arise home and away. We have considerable experience of pet care and house sitting and care.
We had our last cat for more than 21 years, and dogs and other pets in the past, so have a lot of experience in caring for a wide range of animals.
Jan has volunteered at Raystede Animal Welfare Centre, in the cattery section. Chris has volunteered for a homelessness charity in Brighton and currently volunteers at a local National Trust house and historic art house nearby.
We have completed several sits and like to think that we care your your home and pets as you would.
Chris also has an enhanced police DBS (disclosure and barring service) check certificate (2018) with his volunteering work.

I was lucky enough to have Jan and Chris come to sit for my cat Sheba from3rd t the 7th September 2018. They came to visit me a week or two before the sit to meet me and Sheba and and were so friendly and helpful, obviously well organised and dependable that I had no qualms at all about leaving my cat and home with them. They radiated confidence and good humour which I was particularly grateful for as a senior citizen and quite stressed out at this time.They were so good and coped with everything far above the call of duty: came the evening before as I had an early start and gave me a lift to the coach, sent me updates on what was going on at home and Sheba in particular, looked after workman finishing a job in the garden and cleaned up floors after them, to mention a few. Left the bungalow spotless and a very happy cat who seemingly had not missed me. So, I would have no hesitation in recommending Jan & Chris to anyone seeking very special carers for their pets. I give them five stars all round.I feel privileged to have met them through Trusted Homesitters.

Jan and Ian are just a fabulous couple, to whom I would highly reccomend to anyone. They both kindly agreed to house sit for us and from the very moment we connected it just seemd that we had known each other for years. With us leaving at ~04.00am they were so easy going, flexible even coming the evening before so that we could go through bits at home, and introduce our very independant Bootsie Boy. We even had time to enjoy an evening at the half moon pub next door. Through-out our holiday Jan and Ian would regularly send photos of Bootsie and funny comments which made us laugh, relax and remind ourselves he was having a lovely holiday with two great people. We got back late on the Tuesday and even then Jan and Ian stayed late to make sure Cat Boy was ok. The water went off in the village which we were mortified at, but yet again they took it in their stride and assured us they were ok. Ian even fixed our shower tap and the house was just so clean and tidy to come back to. All I can say is a massive THANK YOU Jan and Ian you are both fabulous people and cant wait to have you stay again.

Jan and Chris were simply wonderful housesitters - they made me feel able to trust them from our first communications and followed through with a really reassuring manner. They clearly understood our needs, especially those of our kitten Oscar, providing much attention and care. They left the place spotless and kept in communication. I cannot recommend them highly enough!
