We have been house sitting and pet watching for various neighbours with cats and dogs along our road and in our village. We always look after our mothers dog, a Westie, when she goes away. We live in the countryside so there is ample areas and opportunity for dog walking.
We have also looked after neighbours and friends animals in our own home. Regularly we look after one budgerigar called Bud who comes to stay with us. We have in the past looked after several parrots, a large African Grey called George who after many years of being silent with his owner began to talk and whistle in earnest after staying with us. I rescued a small Green Amazonian Parrot that flew through my bathroom window one day and he stayed with us a week until I managed through social media and neighbours to locate his owner who was extremely pleased to know that he was still alive.
We have had our own pets in the past several dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and birds.
We are now avid bee keepers and take a huge interest in preserving the honey bee, being members of the local bee keepeing association.
I work on an exhibition farm as an administrator but after retiring in April 2018 I will be volunteering to teach children about preserving the countryside for pollinators, in particular bees.
I am also a qualified upholsterer and designer of soft furnishings which I undertake in my spare time. I also perform dress alterations when friends, family and neighbours need assistance.
My husband and I are avid sailors and being on the south coast of England has meant we can pursue this hobby often. We have been sailing in the Greek Islands and Croatia on Bavaria 37's and catamarans.
We are both retiring in April 2018 and our first venture around the world will be to the Azores to have a look at where our stop off point will be as we cross the Atlantic in October 2018.
We are both non smokers.
Why we want to house sit
My husband and I wish to travel the world now we are retiring in April 2018. We love meeting new people and visiting new places. We have travelled extensively in the U.S.A. where we lived for 4 years, Europe where we travelled with our two children, sailing in the Mediterranean and in the Solent off the south coast of England. My sister has performed house sitting whilst her husband worked away for years and our neighbours have introduced us to this as we often house sit for each other. We have family all over Great Britain who we would like to visit occasionally en-route to a house sitting location which would be beneficial. We are both outward going people with lots of interests.
We are also responsible retired persons who own our own home out right and value the ability to have people look after our lovely home that we have nurtured for 18 years in our lovely village.

Martha and Mark did a great job looking after our cat and house while we were away.
Oz, our cat, was very well cared for and Martha and Mark went to extra trouble to ensure Oz ate all his food and medication.
I have no hesitation in recommending Martha and Mark as excellent pet and house sitters.Martha and Mark did a great job looking after our cat and house while we were away.

Martha is a kind and gentle person with a love for animals of all types. I know she is a natural bee keeper and also works in a city farm with a large variety of animals from rare sheep to hissing cockroaches and the usual domestic farm animals.
I would recommend Martha as a responsible person.Martha is a kind and gentle person with a love for animals of all types. I know she is a natural bee keeper and also works in a city farm with a large variety of animals from rare sheep to hissing cockroaches and the usual domestic farm animals.
