Sasha & Vincent
We are a trustworthy couple in our mid thirties who are mad about pets, food and travel.

We are a couple who met at university and have been together for 13 years united by our love of animals, travel, food and of course each other and have recently gotten around to tying the knot! In the last 7 years we have lived and worked mostly overseas: firstly in Zambia for 3 years where we worked together for a charity; and most recently in Malaysia where Sasha worked for the British High Commission Kuala Lumpur as a Policy Officer and Vincent was Head of English Language and Literature at a well respected international school in Kuala Lumpur.
We share a lifelong love of animals, both having had multiple pets when we were growing up and Sasha is literally unable to walk past an animal in the street without at least saying hello or attempting to pat, stroke or cuddle it (which sometimes makes journeys much longer than they should be).
Currently we have taken a break from our careers to pursue other passions, which include Vincent completing work on a graphic novel and Sasha working on an online jewellery and accessories business with her sister. Housesitting affords the perfect opportunity for us to pursue these new goals whilst also sharing our time and affection with some fluffy housemates. As a result of our new career direction, we are very flexible in our dates and house sitting locations – we are ready for a new adventure!
We are insatiably curious and love exploring new places and cultures and we are also passionate foodies so much of our travel has been led by our tastebuds and stomachs. We are always willing to try new things and find that we can adapt to different environments: from living in a bustling metropolis like Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia where all amenities were close to hand, to living in the rural village of Mazabuka in Zambia where we had intermittent water and electricity and we grew our own vegetables and herbs.
In our spare time, Vincent enjoys drawing, writing songs and poetry and playing the guitar. Sasha is a keen photographer and loves cooking and baking. Both of us are also into fitness (we need to counteract all the food that we eat!)
In addition to English, Sasha speaks fluent Sinhala (as her parents are of Sri Lankan descent), intermediate Bahasa Malay and basic French. Vincent speaks English and is attempting to learn Sinhala. We also speak a little bit of Chitonga, from our time in Zambia!
Why we want to house sit
We have always dreamed of having our own pets as a couple but due to the itinerant nature of our previous jobs (and our stubborn refusal to “settle down”) we were always unable to make that long-term commitment that any pet would need from us. House sitting is ideal for us as for a short time it allows us to be part of other people’s families and to meet, take care of and share our time with a variety of new furry friends as well as meeting their non-furry owners!
There are few things in life more important to people than their homes and their pets and we appreciate and get a real sense of satisfaction from the trust and responsibility invested in us when we spend time in someone’s home and take care of their pets. We are therefore always available to Skype or Facetime with prospective pet/home owners so that we can talk face-to-face and you can get a feel for us before we undertake a sitting job.
We have also always believed that travel isn’t just about visiting a place but about ‘discovering’ it. Working out how things are done there, mixing with the local population and immersing yourself in other cultures is like a strange but hugely enjoyable form of learning. House sitting allows us to do this and to jump feet first into a local community.
Although we enjoyed our work in Kuala Lumpur and Zambia, we both feel that we have passions and interests that we want to pursue and which our former occupations wouldn’t allow time for. Now in our mid-30s, housesitting and a more nomadic lifestyle allows us the time and space to pursue these interests whilst also enabling us to enjoy the things that make us happiest in life: animals, travelling and each other.
Our experience
As animal lovers, Zambia was fantastic as it afforded us so many opportunities to take care of and interact with animals. Our next door neighbour owned a game park, so it wasn't uncommon to see zebras walking past your window whilst you were doing the washing up! We adopted a stray cat and stray kitten (who we called Snowball and Snowflake) and nursed back to health any other animals that came our way, which included a chameleon (whom we christened Attenborough, after our favourite TV presenter), a monitor lizard and a copper sun bird.
More recently in Malaysia, we were regarded by friends and colleagues as a go-to pet sitting service! During our time we looked after our colleagues' cats and dogs and even a student's kitten, that her parents considered to be a distraction (but we considered to be a blessing) during a busy revision period.
We are both keen on travel and have used our time in both Malaysia and Zambia to visit neighbouring countries (thus far ticking off Botswana, Zanzibar, Malawi, Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Korea and even getting as far as Japan). We have mainly used Airbnb and maintain an impeccable record of excellent reviews - our Username is Sasha and if you would like to see any of our reviews please see the following link: https://www.airbnb.co.uk/users/reviews/19366198. During our periodic trips back to the U.K, we have also house sat in empty houses as a favour for Vincent's sister who operates an Estate Agency. We are primarily interested in house sits in South East Asia but are open to other locations such as Europe, the US, Australia or even a return to Africa.

Sasha and her loving partner are the best house sitters we've had so far (6th times already).
They keep our cat entertained, fed, hugged as long as our flat being cleaned and tidy. I can't think of any weakness to make them improve as house sitters.

I would HUGELY recommend them - so is my husband who doesn't have an account.
And actually we're very happy to have them in 3 months for 5 weeks. Very reliable.
If they need anything it's people booking them as house siters.

Sasha and Vincent looked after my flat in Kuala Lumpur and Fatty, who can be (is) a noisy and grumpy cat. They are responsive, respectful, organised, tidy and importantly kept Fatty happy and well fed when we were away. They followed instructions well and provided us with regular updates about Fatty or the flat. We hope they have enjoyed their time in Ttdi. We will engage them in the future and are pleased to recommend them as well.
