Hi, I'm Cheryl, from northwest of England.
I believe that all homes have their own amazing conscious energy, as do our animal kingdom friends. Far more is seen by them ( both) than we realise and it is them that teach us human inhabitants. Hence, my nature and approach to homes and our four/two legged friends is about authentic care, consideration, kindness and attention. This element of me, doesn't get switched on from - a start to end date - or time, it's what and who I happily am, inside and out. I believe in loving kindness to all, especially to those four walls which gives us shelter, and to our fury or feathered family.
Why I want to house sit
Now, I am entering dual roles, as ....a) I am looking to be a house/sitter, and b) my very own tiny home is actually now being house-sat. In other words, so I am in the same world as yourself reading this. I have someone in my home looking after it, and my Cavapoo. As I am travelling and taking time out from yoga teaching full time. So I already know how it feels to be on the other end because I'm on it. It is Reassuring on one hand, as it's ( home & pooch pie ) is being well looked after yet it taps into a trust thing ... our pets & homes, possessions? They are biggies in life, and so I see how important feeling confident and reassured as to who and how it should go - as you leave it behinde - no matter how long. 1 day or 6 months.
What goes around comes around, and from my heart I say this. I will treat your home and your beloved furry family members, the way I wish for mine to be treated, whilst I'm away. Upmost love and care.
I've owned my own home for 12 years, and had two dogs ( my cavalier passed 2 years ago) and so it's just me and my cavapoo. I have never house sat as a paid profession but looked after apartments of family members when they've been away. I don't have cats, but Luckily for me the local cat gang often hang out in my; front /back garden, living room, or mini car ( yes in the car - they sneak in weekly). I love this, cavapoo does not.
Home wise; I do not take, play with, snoop, read, open, interfere with what is not mine. No matter how at ease I may be in a space, i would not and do not equate this to doing something in someone's beloved home, anything that I would not want done in mine.
Since being 22 I've lived by myself, so have built 18 years experience of; house cleaning, washing, cooking, garden maintenance ( mowing /watering being a fave) . Safety has always been at the front of my mind, so I'm conscienceous ( maybe too much sometimes but it's got to be) I double and triple check, locking locks, codes, windows closing ( I grew up in an big urban city - so it's in my blood). My home is in a quiet semi-rural farm land area, and I still do it, habit. Communication, regular snaps updates via what ever method, is see as part of what is do ( unless I'm told otherwise that is), updates work well on both sides I find!
I am vegan (have been for 14 yrs) for health reasons and animal love. I am pretty eco conscious, into recycling (where poss). As such, I don't believe in wasting water, electricity, or plastic , anything else that is better for the earth and the pocket.
Added to this I believe in confidentiality ( from counsellor training years ago) and being sensitive to surroundings. Keeping in harmony with neighbours, or local culture by using discernament and grace, I'd say is a given. Another is, Keeping my word and following any tasks you'd expect done, I'm one of them who believe that the word is bond, and if you agree to something, you do it. That's me.
Pets; love love love all doggies, but hey who am I kidding, I love all animals! cats, ponys, hamsters, ducks, chicks, if I could have an arc and get them all in 2 by 2 Noah style, i would. The depth of what they show you is priceless. To me they are a constant reminder of the miracle and beauty of Mother Nature, with effort, its magic really. And the funny things they do, and their little quirky ways. You just get reminded again and again about how life is for love and living when your with them.
Your pet, will be treated like a little duch or duchess, and what ever their wish ( with your prior permission) is what's done. They wanna play, scramble, hide and seek, talk, let's do it. My pooches have done yoga with me, had Thai massage and meditation. They love it! As I'm a qualified teacher & therapist. And for any pets that are knowing-watcher types, I just keep them sweet company.
Feeding, poop scooping, games, walking, muddy paw cleaning, nicknames, all the cheeky stuff, I am happy to do. And follow special instruction, like; they love the couch, they don't like this being held, their rascal tendencies are this, or not allowed in this part of the house, what ever you do - I'll do and upkeep for you. With joy.
