We are a responsible, non-smoking, British engineer and chef/baker. We returned to the UK in February 2018 after doing a 20 month road trip across the Americas in a bright yellow camper. We are low impact, practical people who are used to a simple life of travel, hiking, camping and books. We will look after your home and your pets as if they were our own.
We travelled Europe/Canada/USA/Mexico from July 2016 to Feb 2018. During this time we completed 9 different house sits across North America. We have several references available from these sits. Since returning to UK we have done a short sit in Derbyshire, UK and we Also completed a sit in Spain in September 2018.
Why we want to house sit
We enjoy meeting people, their animals and living somewhere different for a while to widen our experience of the world. We also want to improve our understanding of foreign languages and culture and experience regional foods where they originate.
We are very happy in quieter, more unusual places especially where we can go hiking, but we also like to visit a city for a change and to enjoy some restaurants.
We grew up with various dogs, cats and Guinea pigs. We like being in the outdoors in snow or sunshine and are happy to walk dogs while we house sit.
We like to swim, are healthy and like a change, some relaxation and a challenge.
Our experience
Over 2016-2017 we completed 4 house/pet sits in Canada as well as 5 sits in the USA. We have a set of excellent references from these house sits. Many of our referees are happy to communicate by email/phone with home owners to confirm their recommendations.
Our assignments have all been very different - in city and rural areas and in all weathers looking after cats, walking dogs and even supervising a duck! We spent a month in a very unusual, large house on a snowy mountainside in British Columbia, keeping a huge furnace constantly going to heat the house. We also kept a driveway with 4 steep switchbacks ploughed - so we are capable of taking responsibility for the practical aspects of house sitting.
Jon is an engineer. He is very practical, he fixes and makes things. He built our camper himself (and many others before this one) and takes pride in his work. He was a tour guide for several years, mainly in Africa. He can usually find, or create, a solution to most problems.
Sarah ran a small cookery school for 10 years. She organised outdoor cooking classes for corporate groups in a field, with no facilities, in the British weather, with only charcoal to cook with. She has also worked as a small business advisor and a project/training manager. She has taught indoor cooking classes at an organic farm as well as covered the farm's bakery duties when their regular baker went on holiday. Sarah now runs a part time micro bakery from home. She is highly organised, keeps things tidy/clean and will always leave your home as she found it.
Together we have the skills to cope in many situations.

Sarah and her husband did a tremendous job with our animals. It was our first time using a house sitter, and they did such a good job that we will never board our animals again. So much better for our animals! Thank you, Sarah!

Sarah and Jon were fabulous House Sitters and more importantly, they were great with our beloved labrador Hastings taking very good care of him and his schedule! From the moment we confirmedthem as sitters there was great communication leading up to their arrival and indeed during our holiday away. They coped dmiranly with our watering systems and schedule and made careful notes to relay to us upon our return. The house and grounds looked great when we got back and Hastings was in fine form. I wouldn’t hesitate to engage them as House Sitters again and I can’t recommend them highly enough. Thank you both for coming and doing such a great job.

Sarah and John did an excellent job looking after our dogs and our home. They kept to our usual routines, the dogs were happy and everything was spotless when we arrived back.
I would recommend them without reservation.Sarah and John did an excellent job looking after our dogs and our home. They kept to our usual routines, the dogs were happy and everything was spotless when we arrived back.
