We started petsitting September 2016. Since then, we have met some wonderful people and thoroughly enjoyed looking after lots of cats, dogs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, turtles, fish and even stick insects! After barely being home since we started petsitting, we made the decision to sell all of our possessions in December 2016 and commit to petsitting/travel full-time whilst living out of a backpack. Despite living out of a backpack for nearly two years now and occasionally missing “home”, we love living a nomadic lifestyle.
As you will see from our many reviews and character references, we pride ourselves on being clean, both on a personal level and around your property. To illustrate this, Margaret from Worcester said: “They looked after my house for nearly six months while I was abroad and I returned to find it beautifully cleaned and cared for, and with the most thoughtful arrangements to ease my return and welcome me back”. When we are in your property, you can rest assured that we will treat it with the upmost respect and that when you return you will find it as you left it. However, in return, we do expect that you show us some respect by ensuring your home is reasonably clean and uncluttered for when we arrive. While we don’t expect your property to be immaculate, we do, however, expect that you have at least given us some consideration and made an effort to ensure that we have a comfortable stay whilst you are away.
We also pride ourselves on being great with animals. To illustrate this, Cristina said: "This is the 2nd time that we have used Danny and Jo so that speaks volumes and says everything. Kaiser and Oso adore them".
When we have gaps between petsits or are just travelling, we tend to use AirBnb for accommodation. One homeowner in Seattle, USA, gave us an outstanding review that we feel really gives an indication of our personality: “It was a pleasure hosting Danny & Jo. Hands down the best guests we’ve had in this two years of hosting. Both are clean, quiet and very easy going. Future host, if you get a chance to hang out with these two and grab a chat, promise you won’t stop laughing. They have the best stories/experiences to share. Our home is always open to them. The security of your home and the welfare of your pets is very important to us. We decided to get Enhanced Verification status with TrustedHousesitters as we understand that it may be a daunting prospect for you to let a stranger look after your home and pets whilst you are away. The Enhanced Verification is our way of assuring you that we have no criminal record, have supplied ID, and can be trusted to look after your home and pets in your absence.
We both have passive income and are not geographically tied to a particular location. Hence, we’ve been able to travel for a considerable amount of time and are able to accept sits anywhere in the world for any duration, subject to us being able to get a visa to cover the length of the sit if it is outside the United Kingdom. As we both have a British passport, most countries allow us to travel visa-free up to a certain number of days (usually 30 – 90).
We are also non-smokers and not "party animals". You won't find us getting drunk and having parties in your home.
Why we want to house sit
We both love animals, particularly dogs and cats, and enjoy meeting new people, going to new and exciting places, and learning about different cultures. TrustedHousesitters has been an excellent way for us to be able to travel at a reduced cost whilst also being able to look after other people's pets. Our love for travel, meeting new people and looking after people's pets has only grown stronger since we started pet/housesitting and therefore we plan to continue while we have our youth, health and the financial means.
It is important to note that while travel is important to us and that we love to explore the areas we stay in, we do however believe very strongly that your pets should always come first. We will not leave your pet cooped up all day in the house while we go sightseeing. We will always make sure that they are well fed, watered and exercised before we even think of leaving your home. And we will also make sure we return in time to ensure that your pet is not in discomfort due to needing the toilet.
Our experience
Since we started pet/housesitting in September 2016, we've completed 20+ sits both in the UK and overseas. Every homeowner who we have petsit for has reviewed us highly. Furthermore, most of the people we have petsit for have actually asked us to return for their next holiday. It's a real vote of confidence when they invite us back again.

Danny was on another sit so she came alone to look after the dogs - who were delighted to see her. It was obvious they'd had a lovely time with her previously - and did again.

Absolutely brilliant house sitters! Great with communication and super flexible. Left house clean and tidy, even did the laundry, and left me milk and bread. Would highly recommend :)

Danny and Jo were fantastic pet and house sitters. Communication in advance was excellent, when they got here they seemed entirely trustworthy and personable and got on really well with the dogs. When we were away we exchanged a few messages but had no qualms about their ability to look after things or to let us know of any problems (e.g. our forgetting to tell them where the extra dog food was). When we came back the house was spotless and they had even laundered and dried the bedding and towels and remade the bed for us. Would not hesitate to recommend or rebook Danny and Jo in future.
