About Cecilia & Brad

Retired since June 2015 from academia and county jobs after 25 years living in a beautiful home 65 miles south of the Grand Canyon in northern Arizona. We still own our home, but decided to explore the planet instead of becoming couch potatoes. We return to Flagstaff regularly but prefer to be elsewhere while we still have the health, energy and curiosity to visit other places.
We care deeply for animals, enjoy their company, and are ready to walk, play and cuddle with them.
We have experience with lots of different dogs and cats including young and old, healthy and not-so-healthy. Our profile picture is with Zoey, a blind schnauzer with whom we spent the Christmas 2017 holidays in southern Arizona. Mostly we love pets and have yet to found one that will not adopt us into their territory.

We love to travel and have done home exchanges (through Homelink while we lived in Flagstaff), used Airbnb's extensively as both hosts and guests.
Our hobbies are reading (especially detective novels and anything by Bill Bryson), and watching good movies. Cecilia does Yoga and likes to try new recipes when the spirit moves her. She is bilingual English-Spanish speaker. Brad loves to learn about the history and geography of places, enjoys museums in urban settings. We love Nature (having gone regularly to the Grand Canyon for over 2 decades spoiled us), and enjoy caring for beautiful plants and gardens.

We have a sense of humor, "can do" attitude, and are utterly respectful of other people's homes, pets, and plants. With good communications skills, we like to keep in touch and never "fall off the map" with homeowners.
We like to give home and pet owners the peace of mind required to enjoy traveling, because that is what we'd like for others to do for us. Good common sense, no drinking or drugs, healthy and active, not afraid to clean and do household chores. Send us an e-mail and we'll respond quickly!!!

Why we want to house sit

We housesit to explore and become familiar with other places in the world and get an "insider's view" of life elsewhere. We love to travel but do not consider ourselves to be "tourists." We believe taking good and respectful care of other people's homes brings good karma. We are financially stable and are not doing this out of necessity, but to explore.

Our experience

WE have cared for young and old cats and dogs. Both of us grew up in households with dogs so we both know how to care for them. We can handle small and large dogs. Please click on the link below to read one of our references!

Cecilia and Brad took care of our 2 high octane Staffordshire Bull Terriers and central San Francisco house. We were gone for over 2 weeks and had no concerns on our vacation, because we knew our home and doggos were in safe hands. Often when we go away, we return and the dogs behave differently ... + More

Cecilia and Brad took care of our 2 high octane Staffordshire Bull Terriers and central San Francisco house. We were gone for over 2 weeks and had no concerns on our vacation, because we knew our home and doggos were in safe hands. Often when we go away, we return and the dogs behave differently - they've obviously missed us... this was not the case with Cecilia and Brad!! Our dogs seemed relaxed and happy and in their usual routine - they looked at us as if to say, "huh, you guys are back" - the house looked great, they moved our car so we didn't get a ticket, everything was perfect! We hope they will come to stay again in the Summer.

Cecilia and Brad took excellent care of Tallie for me. They went above and beyond with taking care of her. This was a wonderful experience for us. Tallie is an extremely sweet, smart and well behaved dog. She took as good care of us as we did of her! We miss playing "tug of war" with her, and hope we can do this again. Zarah is a considerate and friendly host. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend Cecilia and Brad who were very professional, caring and accommodating for the needs of our two Sharpei lads as well as our own in overseeing the house and garden. They were excellent communicating before arriving and while we were away, sharing photos and video which helped us feel closer to home and confident in the responsibility and level of attention being given. On a more personal note, we very much enjoyed meeting Cecilia and Brad who had similar interests in nature, a healthy lifestyle and a lovely sense of humour. Boss and Bubba were very happy; I’m sure they will miss their new Dogparents daily company and walks.
