I live in a 2-bedroom flat with a 15-year-old cat and two tiny rescue dogs (under 7 pounds). I do everything I can to ensure they are happy and healthy. I'm lucky enough to have nearby family, and when I'm away (which isn't too often), my menagerie stays with "uncle" and "auntie" in the suburbs.
I'm a confident traveler and can navigate new places on public transportation. I love exploring cities and it's especially fun to do that with a dog in tow, or have a cat to come home to! I find that I've met so many more people in my own neighborhood since I've had my dogs. I'm not a club-going, bar-hopping type so, other than the odd theatre event or concert, I'll be home in the evenings, giving cuddles to all the furry (or feathered!) housemates.
At the end of my stay, I am also in the habit of leaving a home as clean as or cleaner than when I arrived, with all linens and towels washed, pet hair and litter vacuumed, etc.
I also volunteer at an elementary school as a reading tutor, so I have recently undergone a background check and have a totally clear record.
Why I want to house sit
I love exploring cities and imagining what it must be like to live there. (I'm especially enamored with the UK.) Staying in a hotel can feel rather impersonal, but staying in a house or apartment, with pets and all, makes for a fuller experience and one can feel like a local.
I also get a lot of personal satisfaction from giving care and comfort to an animal who might otherwise be stressed out, alone for hours, or staying in a kennel.
My experience
I am an experienced pet owner myself. I've had a cat, Tulah, for 12 years now. And, about 3 years ago, I found two tiny dogs abandoned on the street, a boy and girl named Bun E and Saffron. Best guess at their breed mix is Maltese, Shih Tzu, and Yorkie. I have been an animal lover my entire life, having budgies and rabbits when very young, and then finally, when I turned 10, I got a dog of my own, a wire-haired mutt, Candie, who lived to be 17. Before I found my dogs 3 years ago, I doted on my mother's Shih Tzu and Lhasa Apso (Danny and Archie), and my brother's boxer mix, Spencer. I also volunteered at the animal shelter.
I have done petsitting many, many times for friends, family and coworkers. Most notably, over the past 5 years, I have been traveling from San Francisco to New York to cat sit for a couple in Brooklyn. Starting in 2012, I've done about 7 sits for them and I'm asked back often. Their kitty, Audrey, has some separation anxiety when her people leave, so it's important that she feels secure and not abandoned. For this reason, I carefully coordinate my arrival and departure flights so that she is not alone for long, or at all.
An animal's well-being is my #1 priority. I always make sure they are fed, watered, exercised, played with, and fussed over! Mental stimulation and exercise are so important so I walk my own dogs 4 times per day and like to provide them with varied experiences full of new sights and smells. Besides the usual neighborhood walks and parks, I like to take dogs on new routes, hikes, bus rides, and cafe and shop visits (where animals are allowed).
I will be ultra-respectful of your home and neighbors. I'm non-smoking and have no special requirements in terms of access, stairs, or allergies. I'm excited to explore a new neighborhood with your furry family members!

Christina was a great pet sitter for Lola. She was such a champ to stay in my flat during Carnival! During my time away she kept me constantly updated. She even got Lola her anti-inflammation medication. I would highly recommend Christina for any sitting opportunity.

She provided us with details of every visit (from the time and how much Luna ate to how long she played and more). And as a dog owner herself, she took great care of Luna, making sure she got her exercise and lots of love and attention. We'll be calling on Christina again!

Also, dogs LOVE her.

Christina is always the first person we reach out to when we're looking for pet and apartment sitting. She's incredibly conscientious, communicative, and caring for our cat. There was a potential minor medical scare one of the times she pet sat for us, and she immediately contacted us and had the vet details on hand. Fortunately, a vet visit wasn't necessary, but her instant and deeply caring response made us feel comfortable in an otherwise stressful situation. We (including our cat!) adore her and could not recommend her more highly.

My husband I joked that the dogs were likely depressed when we came home because of how pampered they were with Christina.
