As you'll see from my photos, I absolutely adore not just my pets, but all animals. Truth be told, if I had to choose between humans and animals, the scales would tip in their direction. I'm 51, and have never in my life been without pets, and I can't imagine it. From having all six of our dogs sleep on my bed as a kid, to helping care for my parents farm animals (chickens, cows, and Mr. Bull), to my own feline "kids", I've never met an animal I didn't instantly like.
Why I want to house sit
The idea of combining my love of travel and exploration of new places with my love of animals couldn't be a better fit for me! I would of course be willing to housesit even if there are not pets to care for, but the idea of meeting new furbabies would be a bonus. Finding a quiet, country place is ideal, but I'd also enjoy city sits for short intervals.
I'm open to sitting for most domestic and farm animals. I have vast experience with dogs and cats who need basic medial care (giving pills, eyedrops, oral medicine, checking for injuries, ticks, parasites, handfeeding), as well as walking dogs on leads (multiples if needed), being firm but loving with specific house rules, and feeding based on various dietary restrictions. I'm also confident with basic care for chickens, cows, horses, and if you give me a few tips, sheep, goats, and donkeys. Above all, they will enjoy LOTS of love and attention from me!
As for your house and property, I have immense respect for other peoples' things, and treat them as my own. I grew up on the principal "return something borrowed in better condition than when you received it", and adhere to that especially when in someone's home. As a former AirBnB SuperHost (and frequent traveler), I tend to see things more from the homeowners' perspectives, rather than the travelers. This means I don't treat homes like hotels, expecting that someone will be in to "clean up" after me. I keep a very tidy house, especially around the animals, as the messes can pile up if they're not tended to immediately. I also love to garden, and now that I've sold my house with large garden, I would look forward to digging in the dirt to find those weeds, deadhead and clip as needed, and see that everything has nurishment.
Lastly, if your car is available to drive as part of the housesit or petsit, know that I have an excellent driving record, and have driven both manual and auto transmissions all over the world (S. Korea, Hong Kong, UK, Europe, Caribbean) and am comfortable driving on both sides of the road (though not at the same time, I promise!). I've held international drivers licenses before, and could get another if needed.
Thanks for considering me!
