VERY EXPERIENCED AND INSIGHTFUL, pet/house sitting couple with many extraordinary years of owning cats, dogs, horses and birds with delight. We are healthy, visionary type, spur-of-the-moment-kite-flyers who enjoy our pet sitting travels that take us everywhere. Lisa started pet sitting to connect with family in Florida, then out west, up to Canada and recently in Australia.We retired early from our careers, Lisa as a career customer relations manager with the U S Postal Service, working in and around Chicago first as an expedited and overnight accounts manager in sales and finally retiring as manager of the Historic Galena Post Office. The more recently retired Rick grew up on the family farm learning his construction, plumbing and electrical skills. Next came a railroad engineer career, a career with USPS and now a return to construction contracting. As government employees, we both had to maintain a criminal free, zero tolerance record and unblemished driving scores.We are now retired and currently live in our own home, which is a small restored barn on Ricks property we converted ourselves. During our summer months we care for our farm, gardens and trees. In the past we happily look after friends and families pets and wish to bring the same level of care and understanding into your home. This is our opportunity to travel and provide pets with a safe, calm, tranquil environment while their owners take a break.
Why we want to house sit
Our trustworthiness is the reason we house/pet sit and your house is our temporary home, therefore we will give it extra attention and devotion. We're respectful of surroundings and safety conscious at all times. Use of utilities is done responsibly. We're discreet while at your home, proactive when somethings just happen, adaptable within our environment and considerate of your property. As for your pets, to us we are on holiday together, yet we will keep to your pets schedule with plenty of play, pats and hugging up. Our goal is to pour love and attention into your pet's life and happiness. Then we can enjoy the beauty of our surroundings.
Our experience
About pets...(Lisa) Growing up in the city and for as long as I can remember there has always been a cat and dog in my house. I have raised exotic birds, champion araucanas, mustang horses and many other creatures most of my life. I spend quality time with all pets in my charge, know how to bond with them and lavish attention on them. In my past house sits apart from caring for dogs, cats and other critters, I have been responsible for saltwater aquariums, fish ponds, frog ponds and swimming pools. (Rick) The family farm property I own here in N W Illinois includes around 200 acres of crop ground, timber and a rental home. In Florida I upkeep a rental home with 40 acres of land, a vacant 10 acres and with both properties I maintain all the equipment, tools and machinery. We both are always on the look out for local wildlife in any area we go to and are happy to watch after house plants and bird feeders. Daily journals of your pets are always kept, especially when medications are involved...we have experience administering them. We prefer to hike or bike around yet access to a car is an added bonus especially when there is no public transport, it too will be kept clean and used responsibly.We have been city tenants, currently are country home owners so we truly understand the importance of you trusting and putting your most important possessions - your home and precious pets - in our care.

It was a pleasure having Lisa stay to look after my two cats. She had time before I left for Seattle to meet the cats and familiarise herself with the surroundings. . I live in a retirement village, and she was welcomed by my neighbours who included her in many activities, lunches and coffees...
It was a pleasure having Lisa stay to look after my two cats. She had time before I left for Seattle to meet the cats and familiarise herself with the surroundings. . I live in a retirement village, and she was welcomed by my neighbours who included her in many activities, lunches and coffees. They were sad to see her leave. She regularly provided me with great photos and updates. I would recommend Lisa as a very intuitive sitter, who looks after your animals and your home. I would be delighted to have her sit again, should she want to revisit Australia. It was great to be able to facilitate her catch up with her family.

The villa community and your colorful cats made me feel so welcomed it was hard to leave. The beautiful surroundings, fantastic amenities and great pets are what house sitters like me look for. Your knowledge and guidance was key for me to connect with family and move so easily around Australia : )

Lisa was just great. She arrived a bit early, kept the place neat and tidy and looked after the critters so well I suspect they didn't miss me much. When I returned she filled me in on the whole time I was away and left a written log. I particularly appreciated the pictures she sent of the critt...

When I returned she filled me in on the whole time I was away and left a written log. I particularly appreciated the pictures she sent of the critters while I was away. Couldn't be happier with the whole experience.
