About Bill & Ginger

My wife and I are former teachers. We have 6 grand-children, and 1 great grandchild. We are very active and healthy. Our hobbies are dancing, photography, golf, fishing, bicycle riding, walking, hiking, reading & traveling. We are a friendly couple who enjoy caring for pets, and would like to travel and experience the culture of other countries. We are non -smokers and non- drinkers. Having previously owned 6 rental houses, we have great respect for the property of others. We will treat your home with care and keep it neat and clean during our stay.

Why we want to house sit

We enjoy traveling in our retirement years and have had many pets through out the years; however, we are now pet free in order to travel. We miss not having pets and would like to combine our travels with the opportunity to care for your home & pets. Your pet(s) will be our first priority. Their well being and safety will be of utmost importance at all times.

Our experience

We had our own house/pet sitting business for a few years, then joined Trusted House Sitters in 2016. We have enjoyed caring for the pets of families in Australia, France, Costa Rica, New Brunswick--Canada, Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, Hudson Valley New York, Florida, Oregon & Switzerland. We spent several weeks house & pet sitting in Eugene, Oregon the summer of 2017. This was a sit we booked before we joined THS, so we only have an external reference. We also cared for Kristina's small dog in Ashland, OR. (THS member) Ginger completed a 30 day sit near Pontivy, France with her cousin and friend. The home & pet owner, Ann, agreed to permit Ginger to join Reva & Carolyn for this sit. The 3 ladies cared for 7 cats & 6 kittens. Ginger has an external reference from Ann. We have many external references from families who are not yet members of Trusted House Sitters.
We have successfully completed a Kansas Bureau of Investigation criminal records check. We will be happy to provide documentation upon request. The Enhanced Trust Badge is shown on our profile & we have completed the verifications confirming criminal record check.
We are especially interested in pet sitting in Switzerland, Austria, Slovenia, Italy, Slovakia, Croatia, UK and nearby countries during the summer of 2019.
Michigan and New England are on our bucket list for an autumn sit.
Bill, Ginger & friend, Irma, completed two house & plant sits for the same family in Costa Rica during May & June, 2018.
Ginger Completed a house/cat sit in Switzerland with friend Abby Waxman Moore (member of Trusted House Sitters) in July, 2018
(We have completed many house, pet & plant sits before & while members of THS. Here is some very helpful information you can let us know as soon as we are confirmed or before our confirmation: A car is provided or not & car is standard or automatic transmission, how many beds & bathrooms are available--sometimes a partner snores:-) If you are planning a meal for us, please ask about dietary restrictions, how many hours your dog can be alone between toilet breaks & feedings. Whether or not you can pick us up at the airport & the full name of the airport you prefer (name of closest International Airport from your home), how many days prior to the sit you prefer for us to arrive.)

We could not have asked for a better first experience with Trustedhousitters than we had with Bill and Ginger! From our initial contact on the website, they were conscientious, well-organized communicators who asked good questions and paid attention to the details about our pets and home. Our elderly cat, Graycie, warmed to them immediately (which she doesn’t always do!), and they lovingly took great care of her, along with our flock of hens. Ginger regularly sent delightful photos of Graycie, assuring us that she was thriving. Our house plants were well cared for, and our outdoor potted plants were brought into our solarium before the first frost. When we returned home the house was immaculate. Above and beyond the call of duty, Bill graciously transported Christopher to and from the airport. Ginger took an active interest in our family and stayed in close touch while we were away. They are warm, kind, thoughtful, and efficient. We recommend them highly and hope to see them again! Thank you so much, Bill and Ginger!

Bill and Ginger are a friendly and personable couple who took great care of our home for almost a month. They are reliable, accommodating, conscientious and kept lines of communication open pre- during and post- house sit. They left our home very clean and in good order. We have no pets but we did ask Bill and Ginger to keep an eye on our country critters which they happily did. They had the use of our car and left it with a full tank of gas and in a cleaner condition than they received it! These are just the kind of people you would want to care for your home and we were worry-free during our time away. Highly recommended! Shout out to friend Wanda – although we didn’t get to meet you, we enjoyed your emails and perhaps our paths will cross in the future. Look out for cows!

Thank you for your kind words, Laura. We truly appreciate your generosity, and all you did to help make our stay adventurous & fun. Your home is lovely and very comfortable. We have never seen so many deer in the wild. (right in your back yard) The twin fawns were adorable. Bill even saw a fox twice!! The convenience store with gasoline pumps & nearly everything we needed was so handy--just one block away. It was nice to have a great meat market & fruit/veggie stands a short drive away. Yours is a quiet, peaceful home with lovely, helpful and close, but not too close neighbors. It's a perfect spot for a very relaxing vacation.
