I am a retired academic administrator and student advisor, widely travelled, who grew up in Australia (in Sydney and the bush), and have lived in England (primarily in London and Cambridge), Amsterdam, and now for many years in the USA. I am especially interested in medium term housesitting opportunities in Paris, London, Sydney, and the French countryside, but am open to considering any part of the world, rural or urban.
Why I want to house sit
As a fit and active retiree with grown children who is very fond of animals, pet and house sitting represents an opportunity for me to travel, living more as a part of a community than simply as a tourist, with responsibilities which I enjoy, as I love animals and would look after any pets with diligence and affection.
I am a careful and responsible housekeeper, and have looked after homes, gardens, and pets for numerous people from whom I could also provide additional direct references if desired. I spent much time in my childhood and youth on farms, have owned dogs, cats, rabbits, and enjoy both country and city life. I have travelled widely, lived on several continents, and adapt enthusiastically to new environments. It would be a pleasure to take good care of your pets, your home and your garden. Since retiring and joining Trusted Housesitters several years ago, my pet sitting experiences have included taking care of a dog, cat, and forty chickens in the French countryside in Gironde, and later, a dog and a cat in the tiny hamlet of Beaulieu outside Châlus in the Limousin; three dogs and two cats in New Orleans; two rabbits in central Copenhagen, and later, a cat there; a dog in the countryside in the far northwest of Argentina, outside the small town of San Lorenzo near Salta; two cats outside the village of Dervaig on the Isle of Mull in Scotland; in London, a dog in Camden Town and then another dog in West Hampstead, and later a cat in Ealing; a dog in my hometown of Sydney, Australia; two cats in Chicago; a dog in Woodbridge, Connecticut; and on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall, a dog, cat, twelve chickens, and three donkeys. Meanwhile for local friends I've looked after a dog in Watertown and a cat in Melrose, and further afield, a cat in the Berkeley Hills, California (twice), and in Sydney on different occasions, a cat on Cremorne Point, a cat Alexandria, two cats in Neutral Bay, and two cats and some fish (twice) in Leichhardt. Many of these assignments have also entailed taking care of gardens and indoor plants, and feeding wild birds. All have been wonderful experiences, and have allowed me to greatly expand the circle of delightful and interesting animals whose company I have much enjoyed!
