Hello, we are in our early 60's and recently celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary. Now that our three children are all grown up and my husband has retired we are looking forward to exploring and learning about other parts of the world. We have done quite a bit of traveling over the years but now we have the time to do even more and also spend more extended time away from our home.
Why we want to house sit
When we think about traveling, we want to be more than tourists. Our desire is to live among the people of the area we are visiting and get a feel for what it is like to live in that particular village, city or countryside. To our delight one of the things we have liked most about housesitting has been the pets. They are welcoming and affectionate and we always miss them when the sit is over.
Our experience
Our home was built in 1896 and we have lived here for over 28 years. We do most of our own maintenance, cleaning and household repairs. With our house being over 118 years old we are very familiar with minor repairs. We love our neighborhood and enjoy daily walks around a small lake with our dog, Fonzee. He is a Shih Tzu who is 12 years old. We have taken care of dogs of all sizes, cats, parrots, chickens and two pigs. When it is not winter you will usually find me in the gardens where I grow lots of flowers and vegetables. My husband enjoys long bike rides and has recently taken up sailing. We both enjoy cooking and having friends over dinner.

Bruce and Mary are excellent house/pet sitters! They communicate from beginning to end. We were always confident our house and furry kids would be perfectly cared for. They took our pups on hikes and handled our senior girl with tender loving care. Our house was spotless when we returned and all my flowers were cared for perfectly. Our vacation was so enjoyable knowing everything was being taken care of. We really loved getting to know Bruce and Mary!

Even though i never got to meet Mary and Bruce, I felt completely at ease. My husband greeted them and saw them depart. They were very flexible with the ongoing house painting and were prompt in reporting a sore on our dog’s leg. They took excellent care , neat and tidy. Would love to have them ...

Mary and Bruce were UNBELIEVABLE!! This was our first experience with trustedhousesitter, but we have had lots of house sitters before, and NEVER have we been so happy to have someone staying in our home and taking care of our animals. We were gone for 2 weeks, and we had communication throughout our trip, and received pictures and updates of our animals almost daily.. We felt 100% confident having them in our home!!!
Mary and Bruce took our dogs for hikes and walks every day. They explored beaches, trails and mountain roads around our area. They also cared for our cats and 3 chickens!
When we returned home, our house was spic and span clean, and well taken care of.
Such lovely and friendly people! I can't say enough good things about Mary and Bruce. I give them my highest recommendations!- Organised
