We are a retired wildlife biologist and park ranger who would love to travel more. We have recently discovered this site, and we are excited about the possibilities. We are a retired wildlife biologist and park ranger who would love to travel more. We have recently discovered this site, and we are excited about the possibilities. Jim is a pilot who built his plane, we would love to fly to your location in North America, or leave it at home for a trip farther away. We are active folks who love the water and the woods. Spare time is spent hiking, paddling kayaks, rafting and flying. Babysitting a new grandson and taking care of our little urban farm occupies most of the rest. We are easy going, non-smokers, travel light, and will have transportation.

Why we want to house sit

We love critters of all kinds, and very much miss having dogs in our lives. We love to walk and hike, so dog walking would be very welcome work. House and pet sitting seems like the perfect way to see parts of the country (and world) we might not otherwise get to. The idea of staying in a neighborhood (as opposed to a hotel) or a country house is very appealing. At the same time, we get that your trip is about you..our goal is to make your time away from home as worry free as possible.

Our experience

We recently completed a sit for two dogs and a home in Arizona, a sit for two cats and a home in Oregon, and another one for two dogs and six chickens in Washington. We have lived in the house that we built with our hands for the 33 years we've been married and raised kids, and have lived with many cats, big dogs, chickens, fish and lizards. Our work included a focus on freshwater turtles, songbirds, waterfowl and bats. We think we're good problem-solvers, and pretty handy around the house and yard. We've used this site to find several house sitters, and bring a home owner's perspective to the job of taking care of your house.

    Kat and James did a wonderful job. We came home to a clean house, the chickens water was full and clean, the bird feeders had been filled, and the dogs were relaxed and happy. They even washed the linens used and started the dishwasher. I highly recommend them.

    I would definitely recommend Kat, and look forward to inviting her again to come sit for us.

    Kat and Jim took great care of my dogs and house. The dogs were happy and well and the house was in good order when I got home. Kat even figured out an alternative disguise for my dog's medication when she realized that the liverwurst snack had a pill in it and started refusing the liverwurst.
