We are both in our 60s. I have retired after 34 years teaching elementary education and resource room (working with special needs children). I'm now the president of the Lincoln City Community Garden and serve on the Board of Directors of the Lincoln City Library Board. My partner, Brayden, owns and maintains rental property. He is also currently remodeling our home and has considerable experience with plumbing, electrical, general construction and cabinet making, welding and mechanics. He was an officer and director on the Board of Directors of two Special Districts and a 501c4 and the North Lincoln County Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.).
I have two children ages 30 and 33. My son, an actor, lives
in NYC and my daughter, a Psychologist, lives in Seattle, Washington.
My hobbies are gardening,reading and playing the piano. I also enjoy Yoga, hiking and traveling.
We both have had dogs and cats growing up as pets and as adults. We both miss our animals and enjoy taking care of other people's animals. Brayden has some experience with horses having owned horse property where horses were boarded.
We are very responsible and take care of people's pet's, homes and plants as if they were our own.

Why we want to house sit
We see house-sitting as an opportunity to travel to new places, experience new environments and meet new people and animals in their own space.
.We enjoy the cultural aspects of city living and the peaceful aspects of a rural environment. We have always traveled as simply
as possible. We do not have pets at this time and see pet-sitting as a great opportunity to enjoy and take care of
other people's pets!
Our experience
As homeowners and property managers we have experience caring for our own homes and rental properties. We are active gardeners (flowers,vegetables and house plants) . We have a great deal of experience caring for dogs and cats. We both have had pets growing up and as adults. We love animals!
Brayden is competent in a wide-range of construction and mechanical skills. He usually knows what to do if there is an electrical or plumbing problem. As a retired teacher I consider myself very organized and patient. Our experiences with pets have always been positive and rewarding. We also have a lot of experience with both flower and vegetable gardens and have always had house plants. . I feel this has been a very positive experience in that we are aware of how clean and tidy one's home should be for guests and also how we would treat other peoples homes as we like guests to treat ours! One learns a lot owning 7 rental units for 18 years.
We have had 3 "formal" housesitting assignments on this site. We are also members of the House-carer's site. I could "email" two references from this site. We have been
housesitting/pet-sitting for friends many times . Those references are on this site.

Dawn and Brayden are very trustworthy and reliable and flexible in their house and dog sitting assignment for us. Dawn and Brayden are very trustworthy and reliable and flexible in their house and dog sitting assignment for us. We had intended to go away for 4 weeks and thus had accepted Dawn's and Brayden's application to house/dog sit for us for 4 weeks. As it turned out, they house sat for 1 week, not due to any of our fault, but due to the fact that my old Dad fell at home, broke his hip and had a long recovery. Hence we only went for 1 week and played it by ear after that. Also, the weather turned to custard with 1 big rain event and another cyclone 1 week later, so it was just the way it was, but Dawn and Brayden were fantastic about it all. They left one week earlier then planned, and we all agreed that was the right thing to do. While we were still at home wondering what to do, they still were great in taking out the dogs for a walk and helped where they could. I highly recommend this couple as they are easy going, super friendly and very helpful and understanding of the situation. They left their accommodation clean and tidy for any other guests. I hope they can come back and visit us or house sit for us an other time.

Dawn and Braden are a wonderful couple who left our house immaculate. They befriended our neighbours who want them to come back. Miss Millie our dog was sad to see them go. We would have no hesitation having them come back or recomending them.

Dawn stayed at our house for 2 weeks while my husband and I were away in South Africa and we left her in charge of our 4 bedroom home, 2 young dogs, and cat.
In particular, we were very happy with the level of initiative that Dawn took when we had an unexpected problem with the electricity in...Dawn stayed at our house for 2 weeks while my husband and I were away in South Africa and we left her in charge of our 4 bedroom home, 2 young dogs, and cat.
In particular, we were very happy with the level of initiative that Dawn took when we had an unexpected problem with the electricity in the kitchen - after failing to get an appointment with the contractor we recommended, she contacted a company our neighbor used and had it fixed. Also, we had just put our house up for sale before she arrived and she was gracious about keeping the house on the tidy side and going for a walk when the Broker wanted to show it. She also took some phone calls to schedule a visit or two from a potential buyer which seemed to go above and beyond the usual housesitter call of duty.
Our animals also seemed in good spirits and enjoyed her company. They can be a handful of energy so we appreciated that. She followed the instructions of how to care for them very well and they stayed in their normal routine.
We would recommend Dawn if you are looking for a very self-sufficient, thoughtful, and neat housesitter.

describes a job which would normally receive 5 stars from other hosts.
Please feel free to ask me about this housesit if you are a "potential" future housesitter
