My name is Rachel. I am from Florida originally but have lived and travelled across 5 continents. I am an artist and maintain a travel blog and am currently applying to universities. I work from "home," and absolutely adore animals! When travelling long-term I really miss having a furry companion with to cuddle so pet-sitting is very ideal for me.

Why I want to house sit
I believe in travelling slowly and really getting to know a place instead of just doing the main tourist attractions. It's also nice after travelling for weeks or months on end, to take a mini break and re-group and avoid travel burn out. I've been taking long-term travel trips of 6 months-over a year at a time and without breaks it can be very draining; Plus if there's animals involved it's always great to have a furry little friend while away from home. It also feels good to know that both parties benefit from this arrangement!

My experience
I grew up on my parent's ranch on the Kanapaha prairie in central Florida; we had many horses over the years, as well as, chickens, goats, 2 dogs, cats, and a pet snake. I've also house and pet-sit many times for my neighbours back home (another ranch with farm animals), a family friend with one dog, another family back home with 2 cats, and for a couple in Australia with a small dog and two cats.
I have also worked as an Au Pair for a family for 3 months in Melbourne, Australia. I cared for a six year old girl and a four year old boy. My tasks included, taking care of the kids (drop offs, pick ups, meals, bathtime, taking them to various afterschool activities, getting them ready for sports,etc) and maintaining the 4 bedroom house on a daily basis. I also house sit for them when they were on holiday. I maintained the medium sized garden, compost, collected mail and maintained the cleanliness of the home.
I have lived in many share houses, "Couch-surfed," stayed as a guest in many shared airbnbs and entire apartments, and I have been a guest in a lot of different homes; so I understand what it means to be respectful of another's space and things.
I have worked as a housekeeper for two different companies and have had multiple waitress jobs along my travels.
I am a very tidy, organized, and disciplined person. I clean up after myself but take initiative to complete any deep cleaning that needs doing. I'm pretty domestic and enjoy the comforts of home. I like gardening (or tending to plants), cooking, sketching, reading, watching movies, and of course just cuddling with pets.
I'm a non-smoker.

Rachel took great care of our crew! The dogs loved her and were happy and healthy on our return. The house and critter cages were cleaner than we left them and communication with Rachel was easy and prompt. We’d definitely welcome her back anytime!

We were delighted to see how quickly Rachel bonded with Selma our young Border Collie. Selma is very reserved and it is quite a challenge to make friends with her but this Rachel succeeded in doing very fast.

Rachel took good care of our house and animals during our one week absence in September 2018. Apart from Selma we have two cats, two chickens, two ducks and five sheep.
She also watered plants and while we were away sent us lovely photos and updates. We came back to a tidy house and happy animals.
We recommend Rachel to take care of your animals, she is a real animal friend.

Rachel has house and doggie sat us us multiple times. She is very dependable and clean. She truly loves animals, doesn't just tolerate them. Our home is always clean when we return even we arrived earlyier than expected. Our dog and we look forward to her help again when we travel this fall.

Rachel has been a good friend of mine for 4 years. I was fostering 3 puppies at a time and Rachel helped me take care of them and even took them for a day and let them stay in her apartment. She is reliable and always generous and eager to help.
