My husband Pat and I live in Bellingham, WA. We love animals, meeting people, world travel, outdoor fitness (running, biking, backpacking, kayaking), gardening and cooking. We run our own commercial salmon fishing operation in Alaska in the summers on our 32 foot gill net boat. Fishing allows us the flexibility to travel at other times of the year. We are responsible, respectful adults and have been married 18 years. We are community minded and enjoy helping out and cleaning up after ourselves.
Pat has worked in almost every fishery there is in Alaska, and also spent 12 years at Cherry Point Refinery here at home. Before Pat talked Holly into leaving her cubicle behind for the adventure of salmon fishing she worked as a software trainer, project manager, and elementary school teacher. Why we want to house sit
In our travels we have most enjoyed the authentic experiences that really only happen when we're able to integrate into the local community. We feel so fortunate to be able to travel for long enough periods of time to make this possible. Staying at a loved and lived in home, meeting neighbors, and truly *living* somewhere is a rich and satisfying experience. It means we can learn more, and share more with those we meet.
We offer housesits here on Trusted Housesitters in our home because we are confident that our beloved kitty cat will be well cared for while we travel. We would like to offer the same commitment and care to your home and animal companions that we benefit from.
Our experience
Although we are new to house sitting through this type of service, we want you to know that we understand the trust it takes to open your home. As homeowners, boat owners, business owners, and pet parents we get it that you expect peace of mind when you list a housesit here. We feel the same.
When we are at home we keep a clean and organized house and we do our own maintenance, repairs and yard work. Pat is especially skilled with tools and systems having served as boat engineer for his 31 year career in fishing. It's rare that he needs help to complete home maintenance or improvement tasks. Holly is a passionate cook who will take the utmost care of your home kitchen and cherished equipment. Holly is also a dedicated gardener with 25 years of experience in caring for vegetable gardens and landscaping. She finds weeding, pruning, and clearing yard debris are a satisfying way to stay active outdoors and she takes pride in a job well done.
Most of our pet experience is with cats, but Pat grew up with dogs and we love all animals. Pets are such an important part of our wellbeing and truly are family members. As such they deserve loving attention and the best daily care possible. It would bring us much joy to be that caring person for your animals.
