Let us introduce ourselves; Jean or JC, a French Canadian, with a green thumb, who has owned and operated JC Hauling for the last 16 years and Karen a postal supervisor are a retired non-smoking couple. To celebrate 25 years of marriage, we took off on a road trip across the USA. It turned into an amazing journey that opened our eyes to the needs of others while traveling. We were consistently booked in housesitting positions for the whole time and found so much value in our service, we began calling ourselves professionals. We take our position very seriously.
Our hobbies include hiking, gold panning, gardening and stargazing. We are responsible, friendly, loving people. We have lost our animal friends over the years and grieved their passing. Our life is now full of furry animal friends we love as if they were our own.
Why we want to house sit
Our 18 month trip was full of beautiful scenery, new friends and sweet animals. We had started out with the lofty ideas of sharing economies and seeing the world, but now we want to house sit because it is a valuable service for the pet owners and a relaxing, fulfilling way for us to travel. We enjoy the trip to the destination. We love being in new environments, satisfying the gypsy spirit in us. And more than anything we get a deep satisfaction from ensuring the pets left behind are being loved, as if they were our own.
Our experience
I think the biggest thing we bring is the peace of mind and security you need during your travels with the continued love and care for your pets while you are gone. We are generally home bodies who love to cook simple meals and enjoy leisurely walks ensuring your beloved baby is spoiled almost 24/7! We give the pets in your life a pampered vacation in your absence. Of course, we are experienced in the maintenance of a home and have handled many unexpected emergencies. We water plants and retrieve mail and walk softly in your residence. You can travel with complete confidence that your home, pets and gardens are in good hands. We will keep your house clean, your pets fed and loved and your plants watered.

This was JC and Karen’s second time sitting for our little furry family and once again we were very happy with their sit. Our dogs love them and the cats continued to warm up to them. JC and Karen took such great care of our home. Both times they have sat for us we returned to our home being in BETTER shape than when we left. We have really appreciated their flexibility with our travel schedule and lucky for us, they were here to problem-solve for us when we had an unexpected contractor show up to work on the outside of the house during their sit. They are great at communicating with us and touching base before, during, and after the sit. We were able to travel worry-free knowing that our pets and house were in such great hands. During our travels Karen sent us pictures of our pups relaxing with them, such a kind and thoughtful act. We feel so fortunate that we’ve been able to have this couple sit for us twice and hopefully we’ll be fortunate enough to have them sit for us again!

What a wonderful first experience with TrustedHousesitters!! Karen and JC made us feel comfortable from the very beginning of the process by connecting with us immediately, agreeing to meet before our trip, and reviewing our welcome information early on so they already understood our needs and our dogs before our travel date. They are a lovely couple. They took great care of our dogs and our home. They obviously love dogs and our guys were immediately comfortable with them. I think Brody was sad to see them leave! Can't say enough good things. Look forward to having them back.

I’m afraid Karen & JC might have spoiled us on our first TrustedHousesitters experience! They immediately opened the lines of communication once we linked up through the website and communication throughout the entire process was great. They were kind enough to stop by our house in advance so they could meet the family, and of course our pups took right to their warm personalities. Animals are always the best judge of character, right? My husband and I happened to both be travelling separately and Karen & JC were very flexible with our departure and return time. JC was kind enough to do some weeding in our yard, and the cleanliness of our house when we returned far exceeded my expectation. I had expected at a minimum to have a couple loads of laundry to do, as is common after houseguests leave, but nope, Karen had done it all. I literally, had zero housework to do after they left. Most importantly, upon my return, the pets were in good spirits and comfortable in their home. As new members to the TrustedHousesitters community we appreciated Karen’s mentorship, and as we hope to become house sitters ourselves someday, this couple has shown us how it’s done! We look forward to having Karen & JC sit for us again in November and perhaps additional times down the road if we’re lucky!
