Hello, we are Katie and Nash! We are both engineers and creatives, a bit on the shy and quiet side but still out to discover all that life holds.
Katie received her Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of California Berkeley and Nash in Computer Science at Chapman University. We met working at Microsoft near Seattle, but have since left the corporate world to see what else is out there. When we're not programming, we both love writing stories and cooking simple vegetarian meals. We also enjoy exploring the outdoors on foot or in kayak. We don't enjoy partying, don't do drugs or smoke, and rarely drink alcohol. All we require for our work is a decent internet connection.
We have lived in many different environments, from a shack in Tanzania to urban apartments to nice suburban homes. We know English, conversational Spanish, and the language of a number of musical instruments.
Nash is skilled in IT and networks and is also familiar with small construction and handiwork projects. We are VERY clean and responsible.
Katie has always been crazy about animals, to the point that she kept a field journal about the ducks who lived in the pond behind her childhood home. She has years of experience caring for dogs, cats, and small animals in other people's homes, volunteering at city shelters, and raising her own beautiful black lab mix and several cats.

Why we want to house sit
Since we travel frequently, we don't have the opportunity to have our own pets or home, so we have plenty of love to pour into yours.
We miss having our own cats and dogs, and we dream of one day settling down with a bunch of livestock. Even when we choose an Airbnb to stay in, we give preferential treatment to those with animals. :)
We love living like a local in different areas, falling into new rhythms of life and experiencing a place to the fullest. We prefer getting out of the tourist areas and into quieter locales. Since we are both software engineers, a good home base is key for our work and we treat everywhere we go care.
Our experience
I began house/petsitting when I was around 10 years old. I relished the hours spent reading aloud to cats and watering plants and feeding crickets to lizards and walking dogs (and some people would even let me swim in their pool if I cleaned it!). Scooping poop was another matter, but it comes with the territory haha.
In college, I volunteered at the city animal shelter where I gained experience working with pitbulls, elderly pets, and feral kittens. I used to ride horses, but never owned one so I only know the basics of large animal care. (I would leap at the chance to learn more, though! It's a dream of ours to settle out in the country some day.) In Seattle, I do part-time work as a dog walker and house sitter just because I love being around animals, and I'm excited to do a long-term stay.
My boyfriend, Nash, may not have been raised around many pets, but he still loves them and he's even tidier than I am! He takes care of his brother's condo these days and it's always spotless. He's also capable of basic handiwork and advanced IT work. We typically travel in Airbnbs to get a local feel, so feel free to read our dozens of reviews there (airbnb.com/users/show/34961167).
