Female Sitter Required - our new rescue dog is frightened of men.
Hello to all interested housesitters! My house is not really crooked- I'm a poor photographer! This is our first time at advertising for a house/pet sitter. Previously we have been able to secure family or friends to stay in our house whilst we are away to look after our pets and property but now our kids and friends' kids are all grown-up with kids of their own. I am a retired (but still working full-time) local schoolteacher and my partner is a council worker. We are both very easy-going sociable people who are looking forward to travelling to Bali for a relaxing break. When we are not at work we enjoy spending time with our children & grandchildren, gardening and home projects. We both enjoy a drink at home and my partner enjoys smoking outside!
Our Home & Location
Our house is quite small and compact. We like to keep our house clean and tidy but we are NOT fastidious. It is Cape Cod style with 3 bedrooms (one queen bedroom, a spare double bedroom, a single bedroom for visiting grandchildren), bathroom and separate toilet upstairs and downstairs is kitchen/living/laundry with extra toilet. Housesitters and any of their guests are invited to use all/any bedrooms. We have a supply of linen and towels. We have electric reverse cycle air conditioning and a gas heater downstairs in the living areas and in the bedrooms upstairs we have electric heaters and portable air conditioners (which you won't need!) We live on a fairly quiet street. We have a lovely outlook, being situated across the road from the local high school agricultural farm with several paddocks often full of sheep and cows. Our back fence backs on to a council reserve.
We are within easy walking distance of the shopping centre, cafes, pubs, restaurants.
Responsibilities & Pets
Whilst we are overseas, our main priority is our dogs. Tommy is a nearly 9 yr old labradoodle. He is very chilled and gets on well with everyone and all other animals. Our other dog Abby is an English Pointer and is a rescue dog (effective from 22nd March). At the present time, she takes a while to trust people, especially men, and she is frightened of sharp, loud noises and new situations. Abby is the reason we are looking for a female house/pet sitter!!! She is a little darling, very loving and enjoys the company of all other dogs. I am sure that by the time we travel she will have gained more confidence. Our dogs are used to daily walking off-leash. We have a safe local area which is a 5 minute drive (an ex racetrack) that they are used to. They usually meet other dogs /owners which they are used to. We would really like our housesitter to join us for at least one walk with our dogs so she knows the drill. The dogs sleep downstairs in their beds. There is a doggy door to outside. We have a child safety gate to prevent the dogs coming upstairs to bedroom areas. Our cat Smokey is 14 years old and enjoys relaxing - he does like our bed sometimes! We feed our animals twice a day. Our local vet will be made aware that if there are any issues, expenses will be covered. Our dogs are on monthly Nexguard Spectra which covers everything so I will time it so you don't need to administer any doses. The cat is on 2 topical treatments:-one for fleas & ticks and one for intestinal and heartworm and will require one of each dose while we are away. This is just a squirt on the back of his neck. They are all very healthy pets and do not have any specific health needs. All pet food will be more than adequately stocked in a separate freezer in the garage and everything will be clearly marked. There will be more than enough! The pond fish are fed twice a week and the pump which runs constantly needs to have the filter cleaned out maybe twice a week. This is pretty simple.
