Spacious home with pool + fireplace and lovely Irish Setter in need of sitter
Hi! We're Hannah and Riley. Nice to meet you. We are a recently engaged couple who have been together for 7 years. Hannah is originally from Canada and Riley is an Aussie - but we met in the UK. We have travelled extensively together and more recently, have lived in Adelaide, Toronto, Sydney and Melbourne. We decided to make the move out to the country and bring our Irish Setter, Rudy, into our family. We currently live in Moama (next to Echuca) and both work from home full-time. We are currently planning a trip back to Canada in August to visit Hannah's family and are looking for a sitter (or sitters) who can take care of our home and Rudy like it were your own.
Our Home & Location
Our home is a spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home on a large block with a pool for the summer and fireplace for the winter. There is plenty of fenced in, secure yard space for Rudy to roam, although he lives inside with us. The house is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in a very friendly neighbourhood. Having a car would be best, however, there is a Woolworths, BWS and Bakery within 10 minute walk. There are some nice walking tracks in the area to enjoy the bush and countryside (with Rudy!) and Echuca/Moama is located on the famous Murray River. In Echuca, there are plenty of cafe's, pub's and shops to explore - as well as watching paddleboat steamers and houseboats float down the river. We are about a 2hr 45min drive from Melbourne CBD.
Responsibilities & Pets
We need a sitter who would treat Rudy like their own baby. For the dates we are looking for in mid 2019, Rudy will have just turned 1, but as an Irish Setter, will still be very high energy and puppy like - so will need a lot of hands on attention and love. Rudy lives inside with us and sleeps in the bedroom with us (moving between the floor and bed throughout the night). He is used to both of us working from home every day so isn't the type of dog you can leave alone for more than a very short period of time. We usually walk Rudy twice per day for about 30-45 minutes each time, once in the morning and once in the evening. He is fed three times daily and we would leave detailed instructions and ample supplies of food for you. As a deep chested breed, he is more susceptible to bloat (stomach flip) so can't run around 30 minutes before eating or 1 hour afterwards. Also, if he is outside of the home or yard, he needs to be on a leash at all times. He is very loving and well behaved, and likes nothing more than being with you. He'll give you cuddles and snuggle up to you on the couch, bed, floor - anywhere really! He gets along very well with other dogs and people. If walked in the morning, he'll likely snooze on his bed for most of the day, but when he wakes up, can be very energetic! This sounds like a lot but we wanted to be upfront as we're really looking for an absolute dog lover to take care of Rudy while we're overseas.
