Rural Retreat Mid North Coast NSW
Our house sits within a beautiful garden, 10 kms from historic Wingham in the hinterlands of the Mid North Coast of NSW. There are views of pastures, trees and hills in all directions with a large magic deck to make the most of the setting. The 3 bed room timber house along with the garage both have lofts with the main bedroom in one and a guest room above the garage. There is a saltwater in ground pool to dip into on those hot days. For winter we have a tile fire to keep the house warm, plus an open fire in the room with the tv, and also an outside fire pit to toast marshmellows and watch the stars.
At present we only have one dog - Mervyn a Groodle aged 4. He is very gentle and lovely company. We are hoping to get a new dog in the near future when an older dog that needs rehoming presents itself....
We also have three horses (Oscar, Leroy and Prince) who require no attention except, if you like, the occasional pat and piece of bread. Leroy is also a new addition who arrived at our place as he too need to be re-homed. He is a minature pony who would love us believe that he needs to live around or in the house like the dogs. + More info
Our Home & Location
There are beaches, mountains and rivers within 45 minutes of the house. The township of Wingham has all the normal shopping plus excellent cafes. Forster, the Myall Lakes and Port Macqaurie are around an hour away. Ellenborough Falls is about 40 minutes away, and is sad to have the longest single drop of any waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere. It is well worth a visit and the walk down to the bottom, athough a smidge challenging, a lovely way to spend a couple of hours. There is also Wingham Brush, a rare section of old growth rainforest alongside the Manning River, where a huge colony of fruit bats reside. If you visit at dusk you can watch the sky overcome by 100s of 1000s of bats.
Responsibilities & Pets
Feed and monitor the dogs, collect mail and if possible use the sit on mower on the lawn if required. The dogs do like a walk and that can be up the dirt road next to the house or in the paddocks. For us we do not put a lead on them but there is also the options of using a lead if that is more comfortable for the housesitter.
